"Florida was one of the worst teams defensively last year. I don't know how that gets fixed for game 1. Sure, they should be better than last year, but how much do they improve for game 1 2024? Florida was 70th against the pass and 79th against the run. I expect improvement, but I don't see that team breaking into the top 20 in either category".This game could go several ways depending on how polished we are in game 1. That's the question for both teams.
With that said, if our offense is on schedule, I'm expecting a blowout. If Miami gets out to an early double digit lead, that home field advantage will be gone. Gator fans will turn on Napier. There's just too much firepower on our offense. Will they show oit in game 1 is the question?

I firmly believe Miami will have ample opportunities to score.
In order for this to be a close game, Miami will need to play sloppy getting penalties and turning the ball over.
I believe by the end of the year, Miami has a top 10 offense and a top 20 defense. Its a matter of csn they play at that level in game 1? Miami was 24th in total defense last year. The defense was really good, they were just overshadowed by offensive turnovers and poor QB play.
I'm expecting Cam Ward to make a statement in game 1. He's going to announce himself as one of the best QB's in college football.
My bold prediction: Canes 42 - 17.
The only hesitancy I have is that this is Game 1 of a lot of new, key players. There may be kinks that need to be worked out. They're not beating us.
Stack the box to stop Damien Martinez? Okay then we just pass on em.
Back off to stop the pass? Okay we'll just maul you in front of your inbred fans.
The best part of their offense last year was the run game imo and they lost Etienne. Their current RB is solid and they got the USC Guard to transfer, however, their LT is new from Arkansas and their RT is from San Diego St. Our run defense was very good last year. Top 15 I think? Anyways, take away their run, force Mertz to beat us, unleash the front 4. We shouldn't have to blitz as much as we did last year now with a healthy DL.
Don't turn the ball over and we're winning by at least 7
The sec really isn’t that amazing. Bama and Georgia carry them. LSU is good occasionally. Most conferences are top heavy"Florida was one of the worst teams defensively last year. The Gator D was not good but you have to consider the competition which is why college stats are so relative. Hard to say this but the truth is facing a schedule full of SEC teams will skew your stats vs facing teams from the ACC.
Also with the portal these days , teams can and do look completely different from one season to the next. Hopefully the UF D has not improved much but that is yet to be seen.
We win that game if boneheaded Thomas doesn't muff the punt on the 10 yard lineWe win that game if we don’t get sacked 9x.
I haven't brought up the knee since the GT game. At the end of the day none of that other **** matters. If he wins the fans will support him. I disagree that it had to take 3 years but I won't be dwelling on the past if we win 10+ games. Results matter even though the infrastructure may be perfect, until that produces on-field success it really isn't noteworthy. Once again I haven't said anything negative about Mario in 7 months but wins matter MOST.
Please find those comments. It's funny you continue to harp over **** that doesn't exist. I know how much you enjoy making up **** though. What a lovely backpedaling statement. It still doesn't explain your 2000:1 ratio of negative criticisms to positive comments since the GT game.
"Skepticism" is expressing specific concerns with certain questionable issues. You're not a skeptic. You're a hater and a moper. But I have no doubts you'll suddenly start to support Mario and Miami "if they win".
Mario is more clock management and maybe stubbornness in short yardage situations than anything else imo. Penalty yards per game (106th) is hopefully a one off from last year.was thinking the same ... he's not exactly a coaching savant ... also, mario has one big games before, TAMU last year was huge at the time, not to mention his previous stop
Like I said. I wasn't speaking about you directly when it relates to constant negativity & that you would venture over to the dark side once in a blue to say something positive. I was speaking in general about what's been done on here. It's one side or the other. Like both sides have no validity. Far as the three years you're saying this because you didn't know the extent of our problems. Like I said from day 1 with Mandy, he was my biggest fear for the program. Because he would have us thrive in mediocrity. He'd be just good enough to keep his job forever. Thank God that mediocrity wasn't okay with us any longer. Guess you guys will just have to be content in the knowledge that a breaking point is coming.I haven't brought up the knee since the GT game. At the end of the day none of that other **** matters. For the uninitiated...worth the watch:141 2/3 percent chance according to my good friend Scott Steiner

That's not true. Cause mertz is consistent enough on short routes that if our safeties don't play up to their potential we could have an issue. I think their offense will be hit or miss. But at the end of the day I think we put up 40 or **** close on them. Im hoping our tackle group can get upfield consistently enough. That's the key to mertz is making him play outside the pocket or not be able to step into his throws. That'll also be a tremendous help to our safety group. If that happens we win by three touchdowns. If we don't then we probably play a lil more ball control and win by 11 or so. 28-17They just don’t have the horses to keep up with our offense. This game isn’t going to be a 42-37 shootout. Either we jump on them early with aggressive play calling and coast to an easy double digit win or we try to force “fizical” ball and make this into a nail biter. They just can’t keep up in a high scoring game. Their pass offense doesn’t have the juice. But if we play some bull**** ball control crap and keep it low scoring and close, we’re playing right into their hands. They can run the ball. We need to make sure we get enough of a lead to where they HAVE to throw it a lot to keep up.
I hear you. My thing is, the most important new player, Ward, has been here since Jan. Him and the offense should be on the same pageThe only hesitancy I have is that this is Game 1 of a lot of new, key players. There may be kinks that need to be worked out.

Mario is telling us the optics are important in this one. We don't just wanna win. We wanna skin em. Just hoping all the new pieces gel in time.
Didn't think so.Please find your negative critical comments? It's literally all you do on this board.
Here's something else for you to consider (and unquestionably reject, I know how you are).
Recruiting is over. Hiring is over. Spring practice is over. Portal is over. You've had 6 months to exorcise all of your negative "skeptical" comments. How about you spend the next 6 weeks getting ready for the season? All of your brilliant and insightful "sucks" comments won't change anything now anyhow.
Like it or not, even if we still have some gaps and weaknesses, we have the team we are going to have when we roll into Hogtown next month.
Take a break from posting, have a few drinks, get laid, and then you can say whatever you want to say at 7 pm on August 31st when the board reopens after the 4th quarter.

I think you were understating how important wins are for swaying a fanbase. You said hopefully thats all it takes. I can assure you that if we weren't 12-13 support would be flowing heavily. We have 20 years of ****** coaching and ineptitude from the administration that prevents the benefit of doubt. Negativity will be here until we win something meaningful but the majority just want to see winning. 2017 was far from perfect but Richt went mostly unscathed.Like I said. I'm not optimistic or positive. I am hopeful. Please post any of your upbeat, optimistic, or positive comments.
