Good question by the OP. I also have a hard time understanding how we went from a thorough search to Butch maybe signed as early as Thanksgiving. Also, why wait to sign Butch if that's who they want and he is available right now?

That thorough search PC nonsense was probably out of Flake's office. It's just a dog and pony show to keep Flake busy, and pretending like he matters. Meanwhile the BOT is doing their own thing.

The BOT will tell Flake when to make the Butch announcement. My guess is right after the Pitt game (while the return flight is in the air) as they'll want to have some sense of player normalcy.

If it doesn't happen by December 2, Butch won't get it.

That makes sense. Keeps the coaches working hard trying to improve their post Golden resume for new jobs. Give kids a chance to finally be in the spot light instead of the headlight of the bus Al kept throwing them under. So by December 2 we know if we are buying season tickets or not. No Butch then lost of extra money for the casino at Christmas.

Or if you really want to gamble, buy those season tix regardless. :friendly_wink:
