Geo and D$ - help me reconcile something

Sorry for the new thread, but I have a question regarding your most recent posts respectively. On 11/3, DMoney told us:

Money will not be an issue. The school knows how important this decision is. I expect Blake to be given the opportunity to conduct a true search and come up with the best candidate. This will not be a lazy process.


Less than a week later, Geo says:

Paul DiMare one of the guys who will be most involved in this coaching search, wants Butch and believes Butch will bring a good staff.

And

Back to Butch I have heard it could happen as early as Thanksgiving week. If you have heard of this before, maybe it came through grapevine of someone I told and it was relayed. This I heard since last week.

Understanding of course that sauces are sauces and things can change hourly, let alone daily, I would like maybe one or both of you to chime in on whether you still think this will be a thorough process, or whether you think it's "Butch or Bust", or whether it's still anyone's guess.

Agree with your sentiment about Thanksgiving weekend. Would be the best time to strike if it is in fact Butch.

Regarding Herman, I think his buyout is too high and we won't be able to compete with other schools for him financially honestly.

Perhaps, but it seems like the vibe has shifted from "this will be a national search with a real budget and no timeframe" to "the big money guys want Butch and it could happen as early as Thanksgiving." Maybe I'm just reading too much into things.

I looked back and Shannon was fired November 28 and Golden was hired December 13. I didn't remember it being that fast, and that seems CRAZY now. I hope they take the time to interview more candidates. It's not like we're bidding against anyone else for Butch, so there shouldn't be a rush.

Well that's it. Herman Monster it coming to Miami. Well we have all kinds down here so he will blend right in. Now as to the next football coach at THE U, I don't the BOT is going risk another air assault by hiring some unproven kid from a 2 bit school that was last seen trying to figure out how in the **** an outside linebacker could cover their fastest WR without top help. In case you don't remember that was UH's Waterloo lo so many years ago.

Unless the BOT finds something hiding inside the NCAA, Butch Davis is the next coach of the Miami Hurricanes. No inside information, just common sense. Once they were forced to consider him and not dismiss him out of hand like Donna would like, Butch makes the most sense for Miami. Maybe not any place else but for here, now, he is the only choice. Unless, someone out there is able to lock Butch up as DC and recruiter to come with him, the increase level of fan rebellion would be more than BOT wants to see.

No guy named Herman out of Texas is going to quiet the uprising that has been going on all year. The guy MIGHT make a good replacement for Butch after he retires but not now. He best attribute is he wants to make Houston the next Miami. That is nice, but there can be only one Miami and it is here, in Coral Gables -- okay that is strange. Good luck with the Herman thing.

That thorough search PC nonsense was probably out of Flake's office. It's just a dog and pony show to keep Flake busy, and pretending like he matters. Meanwhile the BOT is doing their own thing.

The BOT will tell Flake when to make the Butch announcement. My guess is right after the Pitt game (while the return flight is in the air) as they'll want to have some sense of player normalcy.

If it doesn't happen by December 2, Butch won't get it.

I came to the same conclusion. I was under the assumption this would be a thorough search. Suddenly DiMare wants Butch and it's between him and Chud and a thanksgiving announcement might be made if his background check comes out clean.

As as franchise said, the real AD is DiMare and if he wants Butch then it's most likely a done deal IMO. Terrible way to conduct a search and very disappointing

That makes sense. Keeps the coaches working hard trying to improve their post Golden resume for new jobs. Give kids a chance to finally be in the spot light instead of the headlight of the bus Al kept throwing them under. So by December 2 we know if we are buying season tickets or not. No Butch then lost of extra money for the casino at Christmas.

This is not to slight D$ in the least.

From your post, the "national search" common thread is Flake James. What else can that puppet say? He can't name anyone because the BOT hasn't made a final decision. Flake is likely the sauce for for all the non-Butch rumors. That gives the outside world the appearance that they're truly considering an array of choices.

Less than ONE year as a head coach, has beaten NO top teams as a head coach....and Herman is coming to Miami and you know cause you're from Texas......that about right ???

If the Butch deal is done (I hope so), he's already quietly evaluating and forming a staff.
