Tears Gator Tears

We tried to tell them that Lagway was constantly injured, out of shape, had very minimal reps, and it was going to bite them in the ***, and they laughed at us. Now look.

We tried to tell them Billy runs a High School offense, it doesn't scare anyone, and his refusal to hire a real OC would be his undoing, and they laughed at us. Now look.

We tried to tell them Billy was a mental midget and had zero ability to call plays and manage the clock simultaneously as a Head Coach, and they laughed at us. Now look.

We tried to tell them their lines were overrated, as they got pushed around by every decent team they played and added nobody, and they laughed at us. Now look.

We tried to tell them the 5 game streak to end the year was fool's gold, much like Miami with TVD in 2021 when we won 5 of 6, barely, against some very average competition, and didn't even win statistically in doing so, and they laughed at us. Now look.

I'll save the full ****nal of my **** talking for the night of 9/20 through probably the rest of my life, because we all know it takes an act of God for these sniveling ******* to schedule us, because as much fun as Saturday was (and MY GOD was it fun!), we still gotta bury them ourselves. But lord help these pansies if someone I'm allowed to have one (1) nice thing and we smack them around next weekend.

4 game streak to end the year. LSU/Ole Miss (ranked) and F$U/Tulane (terrible).

Other than that, I wholeheartedly endorse your post and its accuracy.

How long do they have to keep Billy before the buyout drops?

I believe it drops every year during the off-season.

Having said that, Florida could probably offset the cost with the verdict in the class-action "intentional infliction of emotional distress" case that all the Gator fans are filing against Slingblade Billy...

I'm just wondering if keeping him around until the end of the year would make financial sense.

I am told that someone got verbal commitments from donors to pay Billy's buy out. Supposedly it is about $22M. Staff costs would be lower at season's end. With the going rate for a top HC being in the $8-10M range that could be a $125M hit. And we thought they had problems paying players in the past.........................

I foresee it happening in mid-to-late October. Latest will be after UGA on 11/1. He’ll give him a bit more of the season to see if he turns it around, but since it’s not going to happen, he’ll let him go early enough to get a jump start on the official search.

I’m sure the unofficial search has begun.

22M is his buyout. What about the rest of the staff? What about the buyouts of the new HC and his staff? Bigtime money.

Mario came at 8M nearly 4 years ago and he was being charitable to his alma mater. Any top coach UF hires will be way way more than that. For example, Kiffin's base is now $9M. With bowls and performance incentives, he's almost certainly above $10M. Why would he leave to UF which hasn't produced a winner since Urban left?

A candidate like Kiffin almost certainly demands a guaranteed contract of 11-12M for 7-10 years. Then he requires UF and its NIL backers to commit contractually to a Top 5-10 NIL budget. Then he demands a Top 5-10 staff budget. And only then would he even consider leaving a sure thing for a turnaround like UF.

Big big bigtime money.
