Tears Gator Tears

There’s too many talented high school qbs who fade into obscurity to name. Unfortunately, he and his family ignored the warning signs with Billy and stuck with it. Unfortunately, that loyalty could very well cost him an nfl career. I don’t wish any ill will to him, but he should’ve done better research when any qb developing coach in the country would’ve been happy to have his commitment

Nothing to disagree with here.

Slingblade Billy has ZERO track record developing a QB to an NFL level, let alone one as talented as Lagway was coming out of high school.

What that family SAW in Slingblade Billy is...bizarre...

I don’t think he’s Anthony Richardson.

Richardson was a bad player in high school while Lagway set records. Lagway also has better character.

To me, he’s a very talented, inconsistent player with a bad team and bad coaching.
There is absolutely NO ROOM for common sense takes in Gator Tears.

@flagator86 …blink twice if the Gaytes have taken you as a hostage.

@flagator86

TrumpyCane thinks you need to address that 9-3 floor comment!

“We gotta go back and watch the film and evaluate some things. I thought we did some things well.

Hey look, we out gained them in the run department which we knew would be critical

We gotta block better, catch better, tackle better

This team will be ready to go next Saturday”.

I haven’t even watched a second of his presser and i bet he said things along those lines.

Seriously though, there’s a hot take that I REALLLLLY wanna say that my bro and I peeped LAST week against USF that we said we’re gonna wait till after the Miami game to say out loud but boooooy oh boy

Everything you say may be true. But it's impossible to deny that he has had MULTIPLE injuries that have eliminated nearly every opportunity for him to practice and throw for the last 8 months.

No matter how much talent a QB has, practice and repetition are absolutely necessary, particularly in the younger years of development. Sure, maybe Aaron Rodgers can miss most of training camp and then equal Al Bundy's high school record of 4 touchdowns in one game. But I'm willing to bet that he couldn't do that when he was 18 or 19 years old.

He's missing open throws due to lingering injuries and an absolute lack of meaningful practice time (regardless of the staged photo opp practice time), and not due to lack of talent or too much hype. As for the hype, it is mistimed. Any Gator fan with a brain would be dialing back the hype until Lagway can practice regularly and play efficiently.
Responding to that last paragraph.... How are you so sure that he's missing throws due to injuries and lack of meaningful practice time and not due to a lack of talent??? He has shown nothing different from last year so was he hurt all last yr as well??? It's very possible dude just don't have it like y'all think he do. He wouldn't be the first QB to have an amazing HS career and flame out in College.

Now one thing I would say is that I don't think the gaytes offense is the right offense for his type of style. But still, the throws he missed and the mistakes he has made has been str8 up mental mistakes. Like that last int against usf. That had zero to due with being injured or lacking practice time.

I've said it for months and hammered it again last week after watching Long Island.

You know what he is? A kid who looks like he hasn't practiced much, and is very young. He needs reps. He didn't play a ton last year, and he's been hurt for literally a year. So, he's still raw, and he's fat and out of shape. This kid was a true dual threat player in HS. He's not Cam Newton, but he can move. Did you guys watch the first 2 games? He's a statue.

Again, this isn't High School, but he ran for almost 1000 yards and over 15 TDs his senior year of HS. He can move. Well, he COULD. Hamstring injury. Shoulder injury. Sports hernia surgery. Calf injury.

He's been hurt for an entire year. Very few reps, and he's fat. That Chipotle card they gave him is their worst enemy. Dude looks slow and out of shape. He's much more talented than Anthony Richardson, though. No doubt.

But I tried to tell anyone who'd listen all summer that they could be in big trouble with this kid, because he hasn't played. He threw 190 passes last year, that's like 5 games worth. And then he didn't practice much at all the entire off-season. Now he's hurt again, and can't (or couldn't for a while) even run. He looks like an offensive guard. He can't evade the rush, his dual-threat ability is completely sapped, he's a pure pocket passer and Billy runs a High School offense.

I will reserve my full comments for the evening of 9/20, because obviously they can beat us. Anything can happen. But this was so ******* obvious for anyone with a brain, but of course UiF fans didn't wanna hear it because he's the second coming of Christ. Just gonna go win games with no reps, yeah we got it.

I’m not gonna lie I love SEC shorts, especially when they clown the gators for even one second

Yes. It is well-documented that he was hurt most of last year too. ****, the Gators had to play a third-string WALK-ON quarterback who transferred from an Ivy League school.

A lot of posters on this board are fond of talking about how "if a guy is inaccurate in college, he will be inaccurate in the NFL too". By the same token, if Lagway's accuracy was fine in high school and he is NOW having problems that coincide with his injuries, it's not a stretch to discuss that causality.

But, yeah, it's funny to see that you are sooooo certain that he is making "mental mistakes". You have NO IDEA that it's "zero to do with being injured or lacking practice time". You are just talking out of your ******.

He’ll have more reps and be better passing by the time he faces us. We’ll need to respect that. But he won’t be able to run against us and his OL is just as porous as it was last season. We should be in his face all game long. He’s going to get gun shy.

Lagway needs to check his weird loyalty to Napier and do what’s best for him after the year. Hit the portal and go to a guy that has proven to develop QBs like a Lincoln Riley, Lane Kiffin, or a Mario Cristobal.
He should do what's best for him today if he truly is being sent out there while still being hurt.

I've been watching all these podcast of these hicks admitting that they "didn't lie, but ignored signs about how it might not be better." I mean I am baffled by how stupid the people covering this team are and the sheep who just lap up all the copium

The DJ stuff just sends me, the amount of fake hype around that kid is baffling even to an extent @DMoney has bought some. He isn't good, he's AR all over
That’s complete bull****. Anyone - including their own site staff writers - who ever posted that perhaps there was an issue, maybe Billy was lying about the injuries, was ruthlessly attacked. So they didn’t ignore, they flat out CHOSE TO BELIEVE IT.

Okay. I believe there's somewhere in the middle that are arguments can be met. You're talking in absolute facts that you know for sure his mistakes are all due to injury and lack of practice. And I'm telling you that even if he was healthy and practiced all spring, he would have still threw that last int 100/100. Which he lauched a 1000 feet in the air while rolling out. A great example is Cam Ward. He has been healthy pretty much his whole career with tons of practice but there's still mistakes he made, like throwing across the opposite side of the field. Those are things that just come with a QBs playing style. Lagway is a gunslinger who their trying to force to play like Mertz and Trask.

You forgot to put "right?" at the end of every Slingblade Billy sentence, right?

Other than that, you pretty much nailed his comments.
