It's a huge fail, but I'm pretty sure only Steele and Jones would affect their counters. I think you have to qualify to count.

Taking a kid you know stands no chance to get in only to bump up ratings and maybe get him on the rebound from JUCO is one thing... taking possibly 5 reaches whose grades are a mess/Visas not in order is embarrassing and shows how inept the program is being ran

I don't think he would take kids knowing they wouldn't qualify. It's probably more like Dumber and Dumber....

So you're saying there's a chance!

And they’re ready to take that risk all over again with Manuel. I don’t know if Manuel qualifies or not but after this previous offseason they are the one team that can’t afford to take that risk. Yet none of their fans care, all that matters is that he’s a high 4 star top 100 player.

7 kids from their Class of 2019 will not be enrolled in the fall of 2019, and likely only Wilson will be there in the next year or two, given that Jones and Steele will never enroll there.

Edit: Apparently Wilson has academic issues as well.

gator fans have consistently been touting up their top 10 class while dissing Miami for having to go into portal. Fast track 6 months, and I wouldn't trade our class (with transfers included) for their dumpster fire of a class. That's the type of class that sets you back significantly.

Here is a summary of the new NCAA rule:

Three loopholes in the 7-year-old rule are closed, or mostly closed, they say.

1. Prospects who sign and do not qualify academically remain part of the signing class.

Coaches can no longer retain those spots to use in future classes as they previously have done. For instance, LSU took advantage of this when 2015 signees Brandon Martin and Jeremy Cutrer failed to qualify.

Now, in all fairness, I think the Orlando Sentinel article is misleading, and is also a rehash of everything we already know. Yes, there are three guys who have not yet reported, two for academics, one for a student visa issue. Chris Steele and Jalon Jones already counted as Initial Counters, you know, because they ACTUALLY enrolled. The players who have ALREADY failed to qualify and have already chosen to go JuCo also count as Initial Counters, though they have never actually enrolled at UF. And if these last 2 academic risks fail to qualify, they too will count as ICs. As for Wardrick Wilson, I have no idea whether the NCAA rule contemplates a failure to enroll for non-academic reasons. If the reason is academic, perhaps the NCAA would count Wilson as an IC non-qualifier, but if it were purely related to US Immigration paperwork issues, the NCAA might let UF have one IC back.

What is truly and profoundly disturbing about all of this (to Gaytor fans) is that these new NCAA IC rules were well-known, and they might have FOUR academic non-qualifiers in the same class. That is like THROWING AWAY four of your 25 slots. You can't sign ANYONE else in those slots, not a JuCo, not a transfer, not a grayshirt.

That is insane, particularly when you ALSO lost 2 guys to criminal/transfer issues. From the same class.

It's not an issue of KNOWING they wouldn't qualify, but there were FOUR quite OBVIOUS risks in the class. A coach needs to understand WHAT the kids have to do to qualify, what the PLAN is, and you have to MONITOR the progress. It's one thing to gamble ONE of your IC slots, it's quite another thing to gamble FOUR of your IC slots.

And let's put this in another light. At least with these 2 remaining guys, it appears that the hold-up is TEST SCORE related. That is just insane. No kid can absolutely control and predict and guarantee his test score improvement. At least when you have to retake coursework, you know what you have to do, you know what grades you need, and I don't think that I can ever remember a situation where a kid FLUNKED his high school correspondence courses. I've heard of a few who just didn't put the work in and get all of their credits, but I've never heard of a kid waiting on HIGH SCHOOL CORRESPONDENCE COURSE GRADES (and, no, I'm not counting Neion Deion waiting to find out what grade he was getting in his college "History of AIDS" course at F$U).

So, to sum up, Mullet bet on FOUR kids who nearly every other university abandoned because they did not believe these four kids would qualify. At least half of these kids needed TEST SCORES. And Mullet's betting average will be .500 or lower. Meaning he will throw away anywhere from 2 to 4 IC slots for his 2019 recruiting class, just to get a Top 10 ranking.

naaaaaaaaaaaaah bruh, you know i'm not about to agree with you on that lol. Both are great talents and I expect both to make plays when matched up against each other. We aren't going to shadow JT either, whomever he lines up against, that's his man but I do expect a safety to be in the proximity of JT. Wouldn't make sense NOT to do that.
