FSU Matchups to worry about

If there's a dance off, we are winning big time. No one dances like the 2019 Miami Hurricanes.
I was going to mention the dance off.

There will be the pre game dance off, the in game dance, and then the all important start of the 4th quarter dance off when you have to put 4 fingers in the air. Finally, post game, win or lose, there will be locker room dancing.

Yup, dem boyz b dancin'!

FSU is going to try to attack Miami Defense in all levels and try to get Cam out in space vs our slow LBS. .... I hope we don't become blitz too happy as well BECAUSE WE LEAVE HOLES OPEN in Briles offense. I actually think we could go with a lot of cover base 2 and 3 with our dline attacking their offense line. Keep everything in front of them! Baker and Manny will have to work together and get these bois ready mannn. Enos is going to be Enos. -If he can somehow give us at least 21 points with decent special teams play -WE WILL WIN THE GAME!

Go Canes!
Top 20 Defenses FSU will see through this weekend:

Clemson (Def. ranked #4 nationally) Scoring 14 points.
Virginia (Def. ranked #11 nationally) Scoring 24 points
Miami (Def. ranked #15 nationally) TBD.

If everything were linear and boring; throwing this equation into a system of equations would yield a final score on our defense of approximately 30 points (29.7143 rounded up).

Our offense would then need to do something it has only done one time this year (against a terrible P5 opponent)--go gang-busters and go north of 30 on offense. A tall order for Enos. Canes have the guys to get it done--they'll need to click and gel on offense to make it work.

Tamorrion Terry vs. Any of our Cb's. Kid can fly, Mike Jack did a good job last year but none of current guys are on that level. Ivey is too slow and Bandy is too small. Blades may be the best option to cover him. Still wouldn't be shocked if he has a big game. 6'4 203 with wheels. Has a TD in every game this season minus Syracuse but still had 84 yards rec.

Marvin Wilson vs. Any of our O-lineman. Wilson is a problem. Eats up space. Gets great push and can be dominant when he wants to. He has 5 sacks also. We know our O-Line loves sharing.

Cam Akers vs. Our front 7. We bottled Cam up last year but the D-Line last year was better than this one. Cam breaks tackles with no problem and we all saw the GT game and the tackles we missed. Though we did better against Pitt. They use him in all different way. Yes, he's no Dalvin Cook but he can still make you pay. Almost at 1K yards this season
Spot on.

Akers is the engine to the whole thing. If you can slow him down and keep FSU behind the sticks, they're going to struggle.

The offense has been a lot better under Briles (shocker, good coaches improve things), but it's still been rather pedestrian overall. They're 71st in the country in YPP, 93rd in the country in yards per attempt rushing, and 55th in the country in yards per attempt passing.

I think they've finally realized that Blackman sucks balls, so expect to see Hornibrook again. Hornibrook has completed a higher percentage of his passes (68% vs 64%) a much higher YPA (8.7 vs 6.9) and a higher rating (159 vs 136). He's also only thrown 1 INT vs 5 for Blackman.

Other than Terry (who is excellent), their other WRs really don't scare anyone. They've got talent, but none of the other kids are true gamebreakers. Plus Helton (#2 WR) and Wilson (#4 WR) are both out. Terry, DJ Matthews, and Harrison is basically all they've got. They throw it a lot to McTitties and Nabors, the TEs, and Akers will be targeted as well. If Miami tackles well, especially on Akers, they'll be fine on defense. A lot of FSU's offense is predicated on Akers breaking tackles for big plays, and deep shots to Terry, which are very limited with Hornibrook in. He's very accurate, but he's got less than half the arm strength of Blackman.

They've averaged 35 points at home. If they get that number, Miami can't win. I think the magic number is 24....if Miami can hold them to 24 or less, they can win and it should be a game well into the 4th quarter. Let them get into the 30s, and this offense can't keep up, even with how average FSU is defensively.
We better hope Willie and Briles don't figure this out. I was at ND v the Semenholes last year and every time they gave him the ball he went for 6-7 yards at least. So they gave him the ball about 5 times and spent the rest of the game throwing it.

Blitz happy will not make me happy. Especially those blitzes that are sent 3 weeks late. Hey look, we just sent another guy blitzing UNC! Oh, wait, that was Zion getting out of his stance against UF.

Their receivers are better than our cbs....

Bandy going against Tamorrion Terry is a huge size disadvantage.

Ivey is going to get embarrassed

Our oline is going to get destroyed and Jarren is going to take 10 sacks on purpose.

Stopping Akers should be our main focus and roll coverage on terry. Terry scares the **** outta me, he’s a Td waiting to happen with his size and speed. Their other receivers aren’t much now that Helton went down...like us they’re starting a true frosh In that kid we recruited from the panhandle, our d ends are going to need to cause havoc in this one and they should, Rousseau and t hill gonna be a problem for them..

We have to withstand the first quarter because FSU is going for the knockout punch Mike Tyson style early in this game. That is their MO all season. Try to knock the opponent out early, get there crowd involved, and pray they can hang on. If we are still in it by the 4th quarter, this game is ours. FSU cannot win a late game to save their lives. They crumble in the 4th. (Boise State, Wake Forest, UVA were all lost in the 4th)

So to answer the question, I think "FSU Intangibles vs. UM poise" will be a huge factor in this game. What I like about our guys is that they don't fold under pressure. They have been down big before and have come back so it won't faze them if we are down 14-0 at the end of the first quarter and Doak is going nuts and Taggert is leading a dance off on their sidelines.

Didn't we fail to close in games we lead in the 4Q against UFag, UNC, VT, and UNC?

This is the woulda-coulda-shoulda bowl.

Yeah this is not a good matchup. Does Bolden have the hips to guard him? Just thinking out of the box here.

Marvin Wilson vs. Any of our O-lineman. Wilson is a problem. Eats up space. Gets great push and can be dominant when he wants to. He has 5 sacks also. We know our O-Line loves sharing.

Navaughn has to play his best game of the season. Need him to step up and at least compete with Wilson.

Cam Akers vs. Our front 7. We bottled Cam up last year but the D-Line last year was better than this one. Cam breaks tackles with no problem and we all saw the GT game and the tackles we missed. Another matchup not in our favor, if we miss more than 15 tackles this kid might run for 200. Shaq, Pinckney, and Finley need to bring it this week.

lol Exactly, these delayed blitz schemes are not fitting this year not like two years ago . We just need to play str8 up Mano vs Mano with cover 2 and cover three at times. Keep everything in front of us we could win this battle with our dline - As long as the refs call these holds for us. We can get to their QB!

Go Canes!

Haven’t followed (possibly even watched) FSU all year, so any and all input is much appreciated. Not only am I looking at betting angles, but no matter our season/record, I want to push FSU’s **** in.

They look better than advertise.... to say the least. People are caught up on their past troubles but tbh they have made huge adjustments more so than us. Which is scary about this game. Leavitt basically has this Defense in order now and they are attacking the ball. Briles has the full offense in command now and it seems like they have some momentum going. Which coach Taggart had to let go control and his final say. So this game will be interesting to see. We should win though if we minus out the errors and have less penalties than FSU .

Go Canes!

Enos needs to stop being stubborn and give the rock to Dallas and Harris consistently. Establish a running game so JW doesn't get murdered. The defense needs to be ready for a heavy dose of Akers being run at the left side. Terry will be an issue for us. That dude can fly and do what our receivers have trouble with, catch the **** ball.
