From Quality Inn, my thoughts on the SMU loss..

He has better resources to get better players and coaches. The defense has nothing to do with Cristobal. Manny’s have everything to do with him
Correct! Also, Manny has always brought in OCs to control that room and he hands it off.

Even when it doesn’t work (Gatass)

Just saw this. Seems relevant.

That's not a leader.

He just threw his Coaches & his teammates under the bus with that response.

As a QB, especially one who's the highest paid player on the team, your response to a question like that has to be more thought out if you're going to answer it, or just be generic if you're not going to answer it.

Throwing your hands up (metaphorically) & saying, "hey man I just work here 🤷🏼‍♂️" is the sign of someone who's in it for himself & not in it for the team.

He's supposed to be the leader of the locker room. $4million dollar QB & 5th year Senior. But once met with adversity immediately shows his character & backs away from the leadership position.

Without the NIL support, you would have never came up with that original username and flirted with being “back” but carry on…
I’m thrilled we have the money. It’s a great thing…until we spend a good chunk of it on a staff that clearly can’t manage it. Point is - I am no more optimistic today than I was when the place was struggling under Shannon, Golden, Diaz, etc. The mid-tier of the ACC doesn’t care how much you raise and spend…

OK, so Im back at my room at Quality Inn -- which isn't the highest quality, but not the lowest quality place I've ever stayed at. It's actually decent quality for what I need this weekend (a place to be keep my stuff inside and take a shower). Im sure by now you've heard every opinion/statement on Miami's loss to SMU. Since some of you asked, you shall receive...

- Forget the loss today, it goes beyond that. There are deeper seeded problems with this program and Cristobal. I'll say this again, the way he approaches football(pace, tempo spacing and game management) lends itself to Miami being in closer games than they should regardless of the talent advantage. It's no coincidence.

It's why UM has lost four ACC games since last November as a double-digit favorite. That's telling. Ask yourself this you don't think Rhett Lashlee wouldn't trade rosters with Cristobal?

I'll say this again, as a superior team with more athletes, you want to EXTEND the game not shorten it. You WANT more plays, not less. Miami plays offense at times like it's not allowed to hit big plays but has to play one first down at a time. Today, SMU didn't move the ball consistently, but they set up shot plays.

Mario is good at many things, he has actually moved this program forward in many aspects. But will he recruit well enough to overcome his own defiencies as a game day coach. Today was one of the worst performances I have ever seen on the sideline. From taking timeouts just as plays were moving on, and then insisting on being physical instead of productive offensively

We have Olivia Newton John as our coach -- he wants to get FYZYCAL!!'

Personally, Id like to score a lot more points early and THEN be that later in games. Sometimes I wonder if Cristobal believes all games are meant to be won 24-21. I don't believe Miami is getting rid of Mario any time soon. It is what it is. My question is can be evolve or just play the CEO role with elite coordinators in place?

- the officiating was mind-boggling at times. But again, that's why you try and blow teams out so that a few calls don't impact you that much

- this years O-line is severely overrated. Too many short yardage situations where they dont get push and waaaay too many penalties. Ive never seen a unit with so many pre-snap infractions

- Jojo Trader flashed. But his bobble-turned-INT turned the momentum. That play and the offensive PI on the Alex Bauman catch deep in SMU territory were big

- I dont know who Miami's next QB will be but I'd like a real dual threat with some twitch and athleticism. The way Miami plays offense it's like you need a guy who can bail you out with a big scramble here and there, and be a consistent threat at the mesh point.

- Finally here's what stood out to me at the game. As I was sitting in the 221 section of Ford Stadium, I looked around and the Miami fans were bored to death in the middle of this game. Miami simply isn't a very entertaining and exciting team. It's a reflection of the coaching philosophy at play. As Im seeing the other scores, it dawned on me that I was missing out on a lot of other good games.

After today, Mario has lost the fan base. Perhaps he can get it back. But this is now 6 losses as a double-digit favorite for Cristobal as the head coach at Miami. That speaks for itself.
I agree 100% and I was one of the biggest, if not the biggest Mario supporters there was. But it looks like this is what it is and well these things showed themselves at Oregon, I thought, miraculously somehow they wouldn’t show themselves here but they have. Maybe he can do some inner thinking and change his ways for the better of the program, similar to what Harbaugh did at Michigan. But I seriously doubt it. I’m also done listening to the podcasts because all I heard all off-season was how good JoJo, Lofton and Lyle were going to be and I haven’t seen any of that. I’m also seriously thinking about canceling my canes connection membership because what’s the point of having more talent than anyone, if you still can’t win the games. Another year older and just another disappointment to a season that we were supposed to make a run. It gets to the point where, how much more of this **** can you take? Smh

What about your boy Captain efficient?

You ready to admit he ain't the guy or you not there yet?

Imagine if Dawson tried to dictate how Mario recruits and when. How would that be received? What would be the end result?

For the love of god dude, just back off on the playcalling.

He’s a loser

Also just strategically for this year the marketing campaign of "We opened up our offense and are a different team now" is a pivot they can sell to the playoff committee if they start winning games by 30 and playing differently. @Mario

Does Dawson come back? Seems like it’s finally his turn to be the scapegoat.

Also, Mario ain’t going nowhere.. unless **** just completely falls apart next year.. and even then I think there’s a small chance. What are realistic things that can happen for us to actually make the playoffs in the next few years under him?

He beat 3 of our biggest rivals (ND, FSU, and Florida) and chokes against inferior teams. That’s a punchers chance because beating inferior teams is fixable. Normally, coaches struggle against the big boys.

I see you’re in your feelings and not liking my takes on the subject but the reality is the big $ NIL support is all in on Mario. They brought Mario! They are here BECAUSE of Mario. Should Mario fail, Miami will more than likely return to being broke and losing these kids to SEC again. Good luck with that strategy…
im not in my feelings at all as i called this happening AT the hire.

Im just not going off the "leverage" they must of sold you cause im born and raised in Miami.

We were winning when Nevin Shapiro was our big money guy giving out miso soup at Benihanas and paying for abortions.

Um isnt gonna disappear if therm columbus dudes leave.

Weather sucked until the 2nd half, our play sucked, coaching sucked, etc.

The only positive about this SMU trip was meeting the legend Russell Maryland.
