From Quality Inn, my thoughts on the SMU loss..

University is all-in on Mario. He will either be the savior of the program or the death of the program. There won’t be an in between, and at this point, I’d bet death based on what I’ve seen with my eyes in 4 years. No way he gets fired till after ‘27 season at the earliest.

Don’t
I’m actually intrigued to see how hardheaded Mario is . What level of insanity does he live in? UL could’ve been viewed as a fluke in his head , well this is two out of three with the same issues . Will he adjust things or just beat his brains into smithereens to end the season? If nothing changes next week from roster / rotations , formations , game planning and handling of situational I might check out completely .
don’t hold your breath. He’s a ******* joke to a coach.
Can he recruit well and build a foundation yes but he can’t actually coach. It’s sad really.

We don’t adjust. We run the same **** all year
There seems to be an overabundance of plays where their defense is fully keyed in (prepped) for our predictable boring same-o offal offense. Thats one reason Sept -> Oct -> Nov goes downhill... the other teams actually study recent films and reports and prep accordingly, and we are obliging them with few if any major adjustments for that.

Mario Mario Mario, not jojo gifting a team a short field TD on a bad turnover. Not Beck throwing a bad pic in OT.

Not the refs hyper analyzing every move Miami player makes with flags, but lets the other team get away with the same stuff.

If the refs call the game like they did today against Miami, good luck trying to win road league games.

You cant let opposing teams Tackles get head starts to block our DEs and not call it. You cant let them hold and get away with it. You cant pick up obvious PI flag. You cant let them hit Miami after play, but call the HUGE personal foul on Lightfoot as he is holding the guy up.

Anyone thinking the money continues to flow with Mario after another disappointing season is foolish. People won't continue to throw money after bad.

I will donate to get a better QB in the portal. Don’t think it’s that difficult- when a SEC team is delighted to see their qb leave, maybe he shouldn’t be your qb choice.

The losing isn’t bad enough it’s the losing and watching a caveman beating his head in the wall offensively. Playing this pace with no explosives leaves you no wiggle room for penalties or errors . Today was as bad of a Mario coached game since maybe MTSU. It looked like a total **** show at times . Right down to 13 attaching the ball at the 10 kicking it into the End zone . The most simple things bust this teams ***.
The thing about explosives is when we try to do so it seems like we don’t have the personnel to be explosive…other then the TD to trader I can’t remember many explosive plays.. CJ Daniels is a huge factor in this offense Beck seems to trust him more then he does anyone other then Malachi Toney.

Takeaways:
- Mario is basically the Quality Inn of coaching - isn't the highest quality, but not the lowest quality

- Miami fans were bored to death in the middle of this game. Miami simply isn't a very entertaining and exciting team. It's a reflection of the coaching philosophy at play. -- 100% -- Mario takes the life and air out of the stadium. He is boring. He coaches not to lose -- He is a fake tough guy.

- Mario has lost the fan base. -- Again. He lost the fan base again. Even the biggest mope poured themselves into the program when we were sold Mario, Zo and Dan as the three wise men and the Avengers coaching staff --- it was all a fraud. We came back around a bit to cautiously optimistic with Ward -- but this is a fool me once shame on you, choking in Year 4 - go **** yourself.
I regrettably stayed at a Quality Inn one night in South Carolina and have watched Mario nervously hyperventilate, snarl and growl for 4 years on Miami’s sidelines, they’re both absolutely lowest quality

Personally, I’d like to see some anger from the coach on the sidelines. I want to see him in the ref’s face. One time at the end on that roughing the passer call did we see any emotion. IDC how many formal complaints you file; fight for your players in front of them.

No OC will ever want to play with Mario ever again after what we saw today. Dawson has to be losing it. Feel bad for him. He should’ve jumped ship after cam bailed Mario out
Dawson gets $2M a year, Mario hands him a top 10 OL every year, and a $3-4M blank check for top portal QB. Plenty of OC's will take that all day... Not trying to defend Mario but Dawson can gtfo

Beck never gets touched - the OLine isn't overrated.

The problem is we invite defenders into the box. They each can only block one man, so there's almost always a free hitter.

You need exceptional blocking TEs with how we run the football at times and we simply don't have them (or don't let them play if we do have them on the roster).
This is so obvious to me.

The OL has probably 4 guys that will get drafted. We constantly run off the shoulder of the 1 guy that will not, into stacked boxes.

Even when we bring Toney in motion to give/fake the jet sweep, there is no room cause we don’t stretch the field enough to create space. Horizontally or vertically. The motion doesn’t fool anyone and the box remains stacked.

The penalties on the OL are a different story. Those are indefensible. But talent-wise, this OL remains one of the best in America. The scheme is failing them.
