From Quality Inn, my thoughts on the SMU loss..

I was in section 224 with my son. We weren't bored, it was just mind blowing on how many drive killing penalties there were as well as missed calls.

Game shouldn't have been close, it was Mario or Dawson. Yes they could have coached better can't overcome drive killing penalties like they had today.
4 years ago Coach Hayes warned us.

Beck is taking a lot of ****. I thought he was fine to good today.

The OT int was bad, but that was it. And we never shoulda been in that spot.

They don’t let him get in a rhythm. Beck didn’t bench Jojo after he dropped the INT, the coaches did. Beck was grooving with jojo.

Idk. Beck has been fine to me. It’s the play calling and general philosophy imo.
Just saw this. Seems relevant.

I'd argue its not a lack of athleticism, but rather a lack of toughness at QB. Beck simply refuses to take any kind of contact. Emory is the same size as beck and is exponentially tougher as a runner.

When its time for beck to pick up yards, he needs to get it done, even if it means taking the occasional hit. He simply refuses to.
probably just a result of the injury he sustained. PTSD..... Don't remember how much he ran at UGA

The caveman offence is infuriating! SMU entering the game with the 134th ranked pass defence + Miami supposed to be an Air Raid offence (@gogeta4 ) and yet the hubris to believe that his way is the only way says it all.

Simply just Arrogant! Game after Game after Game.

Even Saban realized he needed to adapt offensively AFTER winning TWO NCs.
Funny
I wish Saban would impart some wisdom to our meathead
Maybe he has…
And our dummy HC just can’t comprehend the basics of strategic thinking and gameplanning

So our main boosters are all columbus grads,we are hostage to them?
Unless other people start writing checks they could replace them in the long-term and yes, there are other boosters, but essentially it was all of their plan, but it’s not just the boosters it’s Rudy and Joe even if not all of them were in Columbus. I can’t remember now, but it’s essentially the same crew together.

I’m actually intrigued to see how hardheaded Mario is . What level of insanity does he live in? UL could’ve been viewed as a fluke in his head , well this is two out of three with the same issues . Will he adjust things or just beat his brains into smithereens to end the season? If nothing changes next week from roster / rotations , formations , game planning and handling of situational I might check out completely .
Your ******* crazy if you think he changes!
He’s lost 6 games to double digit dogs and hasn’t changed ONE BIT
You think it haplens NOw?? Lmao
No chance!

My bet is they lose at
Home AGAIN next week

****,so just like local politics.

I will never understand how Mario played at miami when he did,in the offenses that he played and has the philosophy he does.He played here under Erickson and came back to coach when we had Santana,Wayne,Andre,Scockeyt,Bubba,Winslow. When he was at Bama they had incredible game breaking wrs and would run and throw all over teams.Where the **** did he develop this stubborn run up the middle against 11,shorten the game **** at?Maybe he got it all his years with Schiano.
Best post of the day. Great question.

Mario is done. We are back to that familiar place of praying for the HC to get fired.

Sadly, this time might be the longest wait. He could probably lose out this year and go 0-12 next year, and still get 2027 to try “once more”. Absolutely pitiful.
I actually disagree
I think leashes are shorter
The precedent is there
Being mediocre isn’t going to cut it
I think 3 more losses and he’s done

I know I’m rooting for it

I promise you Mario flew home tonight believing that if we “just executed” we would have won. Just a little more physicality at that point of attack. Maybe a bit upset about penalties. The idea of “if I let my air raid OC and superior pass blocking OL push the pace and gain a lead, I can win a lot more games when I’m up 21-7 than 17-14…”. Not happening

This will not change. Mario thinks he’s right and just needs better execution. I’ve met 50
Mario’s in my life. He’s my old HS coach that played a 50 defense with single high cover 1 with 7 yard cushions even though the whole country switched to the spread on offense. He the baseball coach that still tries to string 5 hits together in a row when pitchers throw 99.

He doesn’t spend time on details. Or scheme. Or special teams. Or anything like that. Literally just be tough and conditioned with the right body types. He believes it with his whole heart. And so it will be for us

I just want to know what is actually going on in Mario's head. He says the same thing after every loss, and nothing changes (despite saying it will). A normal human being would realize something has to actually change (not just words). I don't know what Mario is.

so 2 out of all the players you listed. That proves my point!
How does it prove your point?
1 maybe 2, Burrow, were probably in the Top 40 QB’s for rushing those years.

The vast majority were not considered a threat to run.

If your point is to add a running dimension, then the majority of these QB’s weren’t it.
If your point is to avoid sacks, Beck isn’t getting sacked.

agree 100%. Mario even made the ND, FSU and UF games boring.

Our talent was clearly shining in those games and we were ready to break things open, but good ol Mario got in the way to slow things down to a hault
He’s a puzzi at heart
You would think he’d have a killer instinct playing during Miamis hey day
But nope
Let’s play 24-20 games week in week out when you should bury vast majority of these crap teams in acc
