If you aren't suffering from low-functioning autism or aren't a devoted Al Golden ***** holster, you'd know how ridiculous his entire defensive strategy is.
For starters, the simple fact that during a time in college football when the norm for offenses is spread formations with 4 wide receivers operating at a fast tempo, Golden choosing to stay in his base package with 4 linebackers on the field the majority of the time is hilarious. I think he occasionally caves on 3rd downs and brings in a few DBs, but for the most part, you've got 4 wide receivers on the field, spread out in space, and his counter measure is to deploy 4 heavy linebackers and have 3 guys stand around and not rush the QB.
While this evolution of offense has caused Nick Saban - the GOD of these heavy 3-4 defenses - to tear his hair out and go back to the drawing board, Golden refuses to adapt. LSU has moved toward running out 6 defensive backs on the field with 2 lighter linebackers to counter the new offenses. Meanwhile, Golden's just standing around with his dlck in his hands trying to force his backers to gain more weight.
It's absurd on so many levels, and this is just the basic fault in his thinking.
