Fritz ga tech

GT is heading more to a hybrid of what they were under Johnson. They are admitting that they have a ceiling, and Fritz is a guy likely to have them as a solid, unspectacular program that is consistently bowl eligible, but hardly among the elite or even a top 25 program. If Fritz gets it built out, they will be in that solid second tier of ACC programs, where they can bite you, but you should be able to beat them down more often than not due to them not having top end talent.

Great for them I guess. He did great this year but was 2-10 last year. Just seems like a mid level coach that hits on a good season once in a while.

I could see them become the Wake Forest of the Coastal

Heard this same sh*t from yall with Geoff Collins.

GT for the most part aint gonna be much ever. They are 3rd rate in their own city for recruits n may actually be 4th. Cant sustain like that unless you can hit out of your region constistently and thats something they havent been able to do for the most part. They should really have killed in North fla-South Ga but that didnt happen

Georgia Tech has obstacles in the way of them being elite. When you require kids to actually be student athletes, and you can't admit a fair number of kids due to your academic standards, it limits your talent pool. That said, they've shown in recent memory that they can be a tough out, they can be a solid 7-9 win per year team, and if they hit on some guys, or end up with a senior laden squad have the occasional huge year. That's their ceiling.

Everyone can't be elite, GT likely understands that and wants to get back to what they've been for most of the last 30+ years, merely solid. Say what you want about GT, they have rarely bombed on a coach like they did with Geoff Collins. Think about it, from Bobby Ross, to O'Leary, to Chan Gailey, to Paul Johnson, they had a run of solid, but unspectacular coaches.

They are in the one of the top 5 most talent rich football areas in the country. They should do better. The whole academic thing is a cop out...i know a dude that was a full on PLUG playing ball at GT. LOL

They let multiple schools come in and run a train on the ATL metro area.....if thats going to happen maybe they need to hit on other areas...maybe Fritz does this in LA.

They need an offensive mind as their HC..because just like us they just need someone competent on defense because they will have athletes on that side of the ball. For some reason i feel the guy from Coastal Carolina woulda been a better fit. What you think?.

Is their Academic standards anymore stringent than Duke, Notre Dame or Stanford?

It isn't an excuse, there are a significant percentage of kids they can't get into school, it's similar to Stanford in regards to academic requirements(It isn't nearly as extreme, Stanford won't even consider exceptions). Due to their background as an engineering school, there are classes that student athletes have to take, no matter the major that you don't have to take at other places. Coaches have been complaining for decades that calculus is required for **** near every major at GT. Will there be an exception made every once in awhile? Yes, but when there are a ton of kids GT can't even consider, because they don't even come close to the standard, it makes that local talent pool shallower. Never mind the fact that most of the elite kids in Georgia aren't interested in GT, period. You think that Jacurri Brown was salivating at the thought of playing at Georgia Tech? They've never been able to overcome that reputation as a school that isn't a "Jock" school.

Stanford is in the same boat, same with UVA. Schools that are in very talent rich areas, but due to academic standards and a perception that they aren't student-athlete friendly, have struggled to keep elite locals home. GT is a niche program, and barring them striking gold on some super high end coach that loves that school, will always be stuck in a certain boat. Good enough to be a solid program, but lacking in enough talented depth to truly be elite. That's why Paul Johnson was such a great fit there. He maximized the talent on his roster throughout his tenure, through an offense that could be tough to deal with if you weren't properly prepared. The problem is that he eventually aged out, and it's tough to sustain a program long term, when you have to have everything go right, because you can't stack talent like most of the schools you face.

Similar, to ND and Duke, but less stringent than Stanford. Stanford won't even let you recruit a kid that can't qualify, at least ND and Duke will let you get an exception. That said, there's a reason why Duke puts most of its resources in basketball. All you need are a couple of elite kids to be great in basketball, you need dozens of high end players to be good in football.

This is why they should've been all in on Chadwell. His scheme neutralizes the talent gap. Paul Johnson, for how ****** he was recruiting, would've still had them bowling yearly & being a tough out in the ACC

You said basically the same thing i said but in a nice way but copping out to Academics.

Again im a fotmer college football player as well.....immma just throw it out there.....All their football kids would likely have to do is make attendance in this supposed tough calculus class. lol

They are what they are more so for what i said though more so than perceived academic high standards. They cant get the top 2 tier of their kids locally...when ever they did they were respectable to good. I lived in ATLANTA when they were actually good early 2000s...they are essentially FIU in that city football wise...no one cares.

Yup thats why i stated i thought he would be a fit there as well also his ability to recruit south carolina their neighboring state.

Yep - calculus is no joke at Tech…but nothing gogeta & hollyhood said is wrong either. City life in Atlanta is cool, but Tech’s social scene has always been kinda nerdy with fewer girls on campus than any of the schools mentioned. Not as many majors to choose that are “easy”, even with tutoring help.

Tech lost a lot of its connection to the city over the last 25 years (made from bball teams of the 80s/90s, not as much from football), but it’s mostly the SEC and Clemson have outmuscled, outspent and outresourced Tech for Metro ATL talent.

Tech fans will be satisfied with 7-9 wins with a Top 20-40 squad as long as the team isn’t as quirky to watch as the triple option. It’s much less stressful to be a Tech fan.
