Fox Sports: Why Al Golden Is All But Fired

And all the old guys on this board keep thinking an out of work HC is the only guy that should be considered ...

The sooner the fan base leaves the late 90s, the more legitimate our gripes will be. But it's easy to dismiss the fan's perspective when the vocal ones are clamoring for a guy past his prime to replace the current guy.

He's the equivalent of what Phil Jackson is for the NY Knicks right now ... A legend with an awesome history, but the legend of what he did has no impact on the current situation.

I'm watching The U, 2 right now ... Butch came to Miami 20 years ago. He left, it's over. Let it go!

Butch is 63. Not exactly in his grave yet. Same exact age as Saban. Butch was kicking our *** just a couple of years ago with UNC.

I'm almost hoping for a losing season this year so that way the administration will definitely fire Golden. My worst nightmare is that we go 7-5 and the administration will keep Al.

The administration is not going to touch Davis with a 10 foot pole after his scandal at UNC. The NCAA is ****ed off at us enough as it is. You really want to get even farther on the NCAA's hate list? Nothing ****es the NCAA off more than hiring a guy who's had NCAA trouble in the past.

Hoping for Miami to win big this season is probably the worst thing you can hope for if you value the football program.

Win/win season my ***.
If the Hurricanes hired the Grand Wizzard as its coach and changed the U on the Helmet to The Stars and Bars...i would want the Canes to lose...Other than that.. Win.. especially now, knowing some of the kids on the team personally..i couldn't wished that on them

he was cleared.

the only other choice i like is Mark Stoops. he was our DB's coach, built FSU defense, and has made a program that couldnt win an SEC game at least fairly competitive

We all know the odds of the UM admin making a great "outside the box" hire are slim to none, so yes, I think Butch would be a much better choice than Mario.

DO specify the exact NCAA violations Butch Davis was directly connected with.

Don't just run your suck repeating reckless charges that have zero basis in fact.

You really that uninformed, or just dumb as ****?

If you're rooting for wins at this point then no offense but you're an idiot.

If you're talking about hiring Mario Cristobal or Chud or any other unqualified coach for the simple fact that he once was a student, coached, played or simply stepped foot in the city of Miami then you're an idiot and are more of a detriment to this program than you realize.
Isnt the main goal to win?

Please explain some more. If we win 10 or 11 games, we really lose?

I'm not gonna be the blind enthusiastic homer who after all the evidence clearly shows Al cannot produce a winner, fall for optimistic chance that he all of a sudden does so with theoretically less talent. That is- new OL/lack of depth, new LB's lack of depth, same for CB and running back. Plus we know Al and Donut won't and don't have the knowledge to field an aggressive and speedy defense.

Our best hope is that the Administration makes the call early in the season and make it somebody that not only is "highly" regarded, but can actually coach. This will give announcers and general media a chance to talk him up and enough time for recruits/parents/handlers/fan base to get excited/familiar with the new coach. We can't wait until after the season and have the guy out begging for signatures.

If you DONT want MIAMI to tank this season, you truly are NOT a diehard fan. Losing games increases the probability of AG getting canned.

We win more than 6 and Golden will be here much longer.

Pick your side! I chose mine and I hope we lose every god **** game so we can get this *** shmuck out of here.

I can't tell if you're trolling but you really think we're gonna win 10+ games. Deep down you truly think that's possible with Al golden at the helm?

I never said that I think we will win that much. I have 0 faith in golden, but Idc who the coach is. Just win.
But I will tune in and maybe even make it down for a few games and root for my squad to win every game we play this year. Only difference is this year when we do lose, I wont be so upset like I was last year. Just one step closer to golden being gone.

Absolutely. The only way anyone can think that this is a good scenario is if they truly believe Al Golden can turn this ship around. Otherwise, you would know that the 10 win season was probably a fluke and you put off firing Golden for yet another year when he inevitably follows the 10 win season up with a subpar one.

Do you need me to simplify this any more, or do you understand now?

Naw u need to do more explaining. That logic is just stupid to me. There is no way you can justify saying a 10-11 win season is not a good season. Maybe After a season like that we get all these bosas/cooks/Randolphs/wilsons type recruits we keep missing on, maybe the admin sees the benefits of winning again, etc. I dont want us to tank, and I dont want us to be mediocre. I want to ve the powerhouse we were in the 80s, early 90s, abd early 2000s. I want to be 12-0/11-1 playing for the acc champ. and then for the semis/natl champ. Idc how we get there. Just win.

Call it a fluke or whatever. If golden can win 10-11 games, I would tip my hat and say good job. Then if he goes back to.being a potato the next year, I will say fire his ***. Do I think he can do it? **** no. But that wont stop me from rooting for my squad every single game.

If we *** around and win 9+ games this year, we're ***kd. 9 wins is this fat pos's ceiling...just look at the numbers. We win 9 and he stays to follow up with another 7-6 campaign. Rinse and repeat. So no- backing into 9 wins is a net loss for this program. I really don't see why this is so hard to grasp.

Outside of what others mention that Golden somehow backs into an ok season and gets kept on board only to rinse and repeat with a follow up 7 win season, keep in mind how soft our schedule is. The only real opponents we have in the ACC that pose any championship potential on any given year is FSU and maybe Clemson. If we can't go undefeated in this conference in year 5 and win the ACC, then our ceiling is basically to be VT. We can win the ACC, but we'll never be a real threat on the national championship stage.

My personal opinion of a successful season is super high right now, not because of my expectations, but because the only way Golden can truly wipe the stain off his reputation here is to show we have real potential, true potential to take over under his coaching. We have to blow out the teams we are supposed to beat and come up with a statement win over some real teams, which as I said are at best FSU and Clemson. No I don't consider Nebraska a statement win. 9 wins is more of the same. 10 wins just shows that maybe he can finally start beating bad teams after 5 years here and a more talented team. It's going to take a true championship run to instill any real hope that we are good. Not an ACC Coastal run. ACC Coastal champs honestly doesn't mean anything at this point. ACC champions barely means anything with how soft this conference currently is. Anything short of a playoff appearance and I personally will be unimpressed.

There is nothing to gasp. I want to win 10+ every year no matter if its.al, butch, mario, chud, ice, or whoever. And I will never root for my team to lose.
