Former University of Miami players will be holding a roundtable on Thursday

Lobbying for Gino 100%. This is more like 90% of the problem. And I’m not completely against Gino as AD, he’s a better option than some. But this is witch-hunt style stampede to the office of our way or the highway if they didn’t go to school here. It’s been trying to be made a rule here for a long time and it’s not helping whatsoever. If you’re qualified you’re qualified, which is why Mario as head coach is an exception.

Yes, Gino is a better option than Blake James or any other potato who rides the shortbus.

This is not an accomplishment to be better than some options.

Gino has no actual relevant experience and, if he didn’t go to Miami, people would laugh at the suggestion.

I think it's terrific that our former greats care so much about the program. Their involvement is important. Bennie Blades meeting with Dr. Frenk probably made a difference...and may have contributed in part to Blake James being shown the door (a necessary step in the right direction). Whether you agree with their positions or not, we should show appreciation for their efforts & involvement. Bashing former greats that care tremendously about the program is really poor.

There is a difference between showing appreciation/celebrating their tremendous achievements AND allowing them to have input in the decision of the next AD.

Only someone that worked at the warehouse of Amazon can be the CEO of Amazon

Why can’t everyone involved just want the school to hire the best AD and best HC that it can find

If Pat Riley would take the AD job I’d take him, but since he never played at Miami former players would be ****ed
Excellent point.

Is it possible that the Canes don‘t think Little Jr is very good and it has nothing to do with his last name or where his dad played?
Correct me if wrong but wasn't one of the Little Jrs recruit threads where the "slow midget" thing started?

At the end of the day, is he a take for our Hurricanes or not?

I’m not a recruiting expert, but my educated guess is something in the middle

I think UM hasn’t put on a full court press because they feel Little Jr is a tad overrated

Which ties into why Bama has clearly made him a Plan B kid, or he’d be committed by now

Unfortunately Miami is damned if you do damned if you don’t

You talk as if these players are trying to subvert a competent athletics dept. Truth is, whether u like it or not, the plan they’re trying to implement is a lot more rational than anything the morons you’re caping for in this admin have come up with.
Lol yall are out of touch. Isn't it obvious they want a former player with no AD experience. If Miami is a National brand and a big time program you would pluck a competent AD, with a proven record, from another P5 program.

It's not personal stop defending your boys and amateurs. Stop living in the 80's man we need update the program and most importantly we need to update our mindset.

The first step on understanding what it takes to be championship-level at college sports… is to have been a champion at college sports, not a short white guy who’s interested in sport business.

For the recruiting gurus here, what is the problem with Little Jr*? Is the problem with Miami?

*ironic don't you think

2 things here.

Outward appearance can be very deceptive.

College sports, football in particular, is big business. Someone with both college AND corporate business experience would be a distinct advantage. Not caping for anyone in particular just pointing out a couple of nuances of being a major university AD in these times.

Agreed

“We must stop hiring people to learn on the job.”

Gino for AD!!!

Good grief.

Lol. This is 1/2 the ******* problem, most of them think like this. Good thing is it won’t matter this time, and none of them truly have a say.
Such an incredibly flawed opinion. Good grief. The person he describes can have a significant role as Director of Football Operations. Part of our problem is we haven't utilized logic in a lot of years.

Exactly what we need, a bunch of knucklehead football players making all of the decisions

"They" are not a collective mind. They are all individuals that have opinions that anyone may agree or disagree with. Gino is not qualified in any way to be AD and I don't agree with the idea of him being AD. It does not mean they are evil.

Just like the Boosters at OSU or Bama who all think they know best and try to run the program you often take the good with the bad. Programs often need their money, power and influence but not always their opinions.

These former players also have power and influence and are trying to make positive change to more than just who will be the next coach or AD. Their intentions are legit and they truly want to get back to championship football. Many of them have sat on the sidelines for 20 years while this program has sank into oblivion and now they are trying to come together to effect change and our fans want to push them away....

I can't get a meeting with the president or BOT members, but some of them can. Why you would not want these guys on your side is baffling to me. You don't have to agree with all their ideas but wouldn't be more beneficial to work with them rather than push them away.

It seems it would be easier to get our opinions across to these former players than it is to the President or BOT. This admin has not been listening to fans for 20 years. These guys are actually interact with the fans.

I know I am wasting my breath here but my God, it seems this entire Hurricane community , including the fans, are all in our own way.
