The players that helped make UM a great program have a right to complain and comment when they feel the need. The media in South Florida never has been that supportive of UM. For me, the reality comes down to one thing and that is winning and doing it the right way. That is what you get with CMR. In the end the media will do what they do and the former players would much rather be aligned with a winning and competitive UM team and not coming to alumni events or Senior days with a 5-7 or 6-6 record. As for Art Kehoe, he was never a strong recruiter and has not distinguished himself the past five seasons, he should not be surprised. Changes were necessary and have been made.

I'm not criticizing the man. I've met Art a handful of times over the years and even when I was a student there and can attest that he's a great dude. I'm sure Swasey was too with all the players he was buddy-buddy with. I'm criticizing the Cohens and Lukes and others around this program that conflate personal feelings and biases and agendas with judgements about what people should be coaches (or even players in Grandpa Luke's case). They poison the feeble minded in our fanbase into believing their main concern is success on the field now. We need less of them and more Leon Searcys around this program.

Art is a super guy. When I was a freshman at Miami and had to wait in the training room to complete my drug test, he sat and talked with me for a long time about the team and the season. Having said that, its time for Miami to get some new coaches in.

On one hand you have to be realistic and as much as some people are effected by these moves, they are necessary and more like long overdue.

But at the same time it is always nice to see the U stick up for their own. It's the type of attitude that has to make these new coaches coming in feel good about the situation. Yeah it might be tough at first but if they stick it out, you can be a part of the family for life. It's an underrated quality especially in this business. If it were me I would look at it as a blessing.

It's almost as if Mr. 30 for 30 is working against his own interest. Take a look at the first part of "The U Part 2" with Coach Soldinger. He states the team "stunk" when Butch took over in 1995. Okay, coincidentally, Soldinger was not part of Erickson's staff and Erickson won two NCs. Corbin uses the "last guys sucked" to add edge to the U2, even though he had just featured Erickson's regime in the The U part 1. So his agenda is to sell his movies to ESPiN, by making them edgy and in your face. If Richt wins multiple national titles at Miami, The U Part 3 is a slam dunk for Corbin's retirement account because there is such a culture change taking place right now.

Man, can you see Stacy Searels in the U3 interview chair? Think of the footage of him talking about how out of shape and technique lacking the O line was when he took over back in 2016...

One of the most encouraging things so far about Richt has been his absolute disregard for making staff appointments based on nostalgia or in a desire to appease "the community" or former players. He's doing this his way and it'll succeed or fail based on his blueprint. A guy like Justin Fuente at VT will end up regretting not doing the same.

lets keep it real. these players also helped ruin this program for the long term because they were selfish too. they wanted coker so they can have free run. my friend played there at the time and said coker literally walked around practice just chatting with players and they ran the drills they did under butch. it worked for a couple years then a downward spiral began. In contrast, when jimmy left, the guys from the 80's and early 90's didnt want erickson but they heard him out and accepted him.

Not evaluating coaches on performance has been allowed to plague this program because it hasn't seen a competent and strong-willed head coach in 16 years.

If the majority of ex-players, local media, and fans had it their way, guys like Swasey and Kehoe would coach here until they die. Sentiment and personal relationships takes priority over merit and it's hurt us. I'm just glad Richt kicked open the doors to the Hecht with a blowtorch in his hands and a cigarette in his mouth. This program needed a deep cleaning and a fresh start.
