Dude, been a Miami fan since 1979; circumstance led me to become a fan Schnelly's first year. Adapt or die! Cultures need to evolve; just like we don't fly propeller-engined fighter planes any more, neither can we just keep recycling. Miami has a great legacy, but people age and new blood needs to come in to build upon it. Yes Golden didn't fit, but Mark Richt is a Hurricane alum and was beating UF way back in '81.

Art should display the class and dignity that he has shown previously and gracefully bow out.
Just because he is an alum dont mean sht. Mark Richt is a country hog hunting redneck SEC type of guy. And most of our fanbase goes nuts for those types of people. However, that culture is the polar opposite of Miami culture.
Do you live in Miami? because i notice a trend with out-of-town fans that hate everything Miami. This is our culture, and we won with it. Even if we didnt win with it, its still our culture, its what makes us Miami. Terrible analogy you used. Evolving is one thing but trying to change our identity gtfoh. You can evolve and keep your identity. If you dont like the Miami culture, fine, theres plenty of other teams to root for. I dont see anyone telling Alabama, FSU, UF or any other school they need to evolve away from their culture. Why? because deep down most out of town Miami fans want us to be an SEC/gainesville/southern culture type of team.
Not sure I am getting your point regarding this "Miami culture" identity stuff.
You sound very angry.
its a simple concept: people want this team to have as little Miami influence as possible.
Seem to hate everything about the city, always talking sht about SoFla players, complaining about our HS football scene....it goes on and on but you get the point.
Oh and you sound very sensitive.
I'm guessing you were red-hot peeved when UM hired Schnellenberger and then Jimmy Johnson.
You know, two "twangy" rednecks from Kentucky and Texas, respectively.
LOL at you claiming Uncle Puke as part of soFla culture, especially with respect to your narrative
of "outsiders" who hate soFla.
Uncle Puke, GenRon, Queercy Wilson, and some of their fellow cronies in soFla have transformed the recruiting landscape
into a festering cesspool, so much that they slurp up the Nick Sabans, Jimbo Fishers, Muschamps, etc who
all share intense hatred of all-things-soFla, especially Miami.
LOL at your nonsense.
