Former Players With Emotional Ties Are One Thing But...

Nonsense like this from Lil Cohen and needless fluff pieces from our inept and uninformed local media are also why this fanbase is all too often poisoned. The "truest" Cane there ever was has been dismissed from his job? Ooookay. Too many fake fans of this program held in high public regard with agendas that aren't necessarily congruent to actual success on the field. I'm just surprised a certain washed up aging rapper hasn't chimed in. Kinda ironic that the only Canes "greats" Lil Cohen ever seems to show all this respect toward are also the ones that have cooperated with his films. At least the players stupidly defending Swasey were doing so based on an actual personal relationship.

Unfortunately, this type of cronyism is common in some circles in Fla with Unca Luke the king of it. I'm glad to see Richt ignoring the local noise and hiring his guys.

Winning will shut all of this nonsense down.

What exactly did she write that is incorrect?

She did insert in her facts that bit about "truest cane ever". That is no longer being factual unless she can come up with a standard definition of what makes a "true cane".

The players that helped make UM a great program have a right to complain and comment when they feel the need. The media in South Florida never has been that supportive of UM. For me, the reality comes down to one thing and that is winning and doing it the right way. That is what you get with CMR. In the end the media will do what they do and the former players would much rather be aligned with a winning and competitive UM team and not coming to alumni events or Senior days with a 5-7 or 6-6 record. As for Art Kehoe, he was never a strong recruiter and has not distinguished himself the past five seasons, he should not be surprised. Changes were necessary and have been made.

lets keep it real. these players also helped ruin this program for the long term because they were selfish too. they wanted coker so they can have free run. my friend played there at the time and said coker literally walked around practice just chatting with players and they ran the drills they did under butch. it worked for a couple years then a downward spiral began. In contrast, when jimmy left, the guys from the 80's and early 90's didnt want erickson but they heard him out and accepted him.

yea they helped ruin our program...nevermind the national championships and the greatest CFB team of all time...do you guys read what you write? without these "selfish" players we would be on a 25 year drought right now.

it gets old seeing all these country *** outtatown Miami fans constantly throwin dirt on the city and area where your favorite team plays.

I mean seriously, go root for another team. U hate what Miami stands for i get it, but your favorite team is the MIAMI hurricanes gtfoh
alot of u want us to be something we are not because u hate and envy everything that Miami stands for. Thats how they end up letting Jersey Al and his buddies come here to try and change the Miami culture to something we are not, and look hot that worked out.

And wtf does Uncle Luke have to do with anything? i swear most of our fanbase hates anything miami, they would love nothing more than to turn us into some redneck country *** SEC team. Sorry this is and always will be the Miami Hurricanes, if you dont like it find another team to root for.

Dude, been a Miami fan since 1979; circumstance led me to become a fan Schnelly's first year. Adapt or die! Cultures need to evolve; just like we don't fly propeller-engined fighter planes any more, neither can we just keep recycling. Miami has a great legacy, but people age and new blood needs to come in to build upon it. Yes Golden didn't fit, but Mark Richt is a Hurricane alum and was beating UF way back in '81.

Just because he is an alum dont mean sht. Mark Richt is a country hog hunting redneck SEC type of guy. And most of our fanbase goes nuts for those types of people. However, that culture is the polar opposite of Miami culture.

Do you live in Miami? because i notice a trend with out-of-town fans that hate everything Miami. This is our culture, and we won with it. Even if we didnt win with it, its still our culture, its what makes us Miami. Terrible analogy you used. Evolving is one thing but trying to change our identity gtfoh. You can evolve and keep your identity. If you dont like the Miami culture, fine, theres plenty of other teams to root for. I dont see anyone telling Alabama, FSU, UF or any other school they need to evolve away from their culture. Why? because deep down most out of town Miami fans want us to be an SEC/gainesville/southern culture type of team.

his son just finished being an offensive assistant with bills same position at miami. its common for schools to have 1 or 2 coaches who are learning . so he hired his son. it happens in alot of places. pete carroll had brennan on staff at usc and not does with seattle. so what. jon richt will work in alot of diffrent things.

he isn't coaching a position like wr on his own or being recruiting coordinator. he is gonna help out all over the offense and help h is dad with what his dad wants done .

Well, Luke calls zero shots at the Univ of Miami so why do people constantly bring him up and always ***** about him? because they hate what he represents. that would be the culture of Miami.

Load up the staff with HS coaches? yes because of course according to the Miami haters the reason we sucked is because of the local coaches, not the Jersey boy who isnt even qualified to coach HS. No its because we hired a quality control assistant who happens to be well liked by the community.

If we did it how you guys want we would never get a recruit out of Miami. Just because you think "such and such local coach is a bum, hes shady" bc you are an out of towner who is out of touch with the Miami community doesnt mean the 5stars and bluechip prospects agree with you. Its almost like you want to get us shunned down here and have all the local recruits/high schools hate us. then that way you can get the team of your dreams with as little miami influence as possible. nevermind the rest of the country and all the elite teams are going crazy trying to build good connections down here.

You sound very angry.

its a simple concept: people want this team to have as little Miami influence as possible.

Seem to hate everything about the city, always talking sht about SoFla players, complaining about our HS football scene....it goes on and on but you get the point.

Oh and you sound very sensitive.

View attachment 34844

You are confusing heart with ability. We may not think much of him as a coach, but he bleeds orange and green, so much so that he was offered a job as a fundraiser for the athletic program.

I'm not criticizing the man. I've met Art a handful of times over the years and even when I was a student there and can attest that he's a great dude. I'm sure Swasey was too with all the players he was buddy-buddy with. I'm criticizing the Cohens and Lukes and others around this program that conflate personal feelings and biases and agendas with judgements about what people should be coaches (or even players in Grandpa Luke's case). They poison the feeble minded in our fanbase into believing their main concern is success on the field now. We need less of them and more Leon Searcys around this program.

View attachment 34847

Searcy gives that opinion because Swasey wasn't at Miami when Searcy was a player at Miami. Meaning he has no attachment to Swasey and can look at things objectively.

That might be the worst blog post ever. If she makes it a actual story in the paper she should be terminated immediately! Journalism 101.....don't let personal relationships & feelings interfere with what you write. Report the fact and nothing else. That blog reads like a personal goodbye to Art. Mind you I have nothing but respect for the man and wish him the best. It Richts job to assemble his staff & hers to report it, nothing more & nothing less!

Wow I have never seen someone argue so hardly against a straw man in my entire life before now. Trust me, there is not a single canes fan that wants us to stop recruiting Miami players. You seem very angry about something you have completely imagined up.

Winning will shut all of this nonsense down.

lmao the irony of that post. richt just hired his own son who as far as we know hasnt done ****.

it gets old seeing all these country *** outtatown Miami fans constantly throwin dirt on the city and area where your favorite team plays.

Art should display the class and dignity that he has shown previously and gracefully bow out.

You do realize that Richt is from Boca, yes?

You couldn't be more wrong in associating me as anything close to a slurper of the mighty SEC. If you want to claim that Cohen and Luke and their views are our "identity" then you might just be the one that hates Miami. For chrissake, Luke would have a combo of Trooper Taylor and Tim Brewster, a Texas and a Jersey clown, coaching this team but Richt's South Florida upbringing AND freakin attendance at the school is meaningless because you've deemed him a redneck. Yep, ol' Richt and that twang. Whatever, bro. Let's go load up the staff with local high school coaches again. That worked.

It's funny, because all of our successful coaches in the past weren't "Miami" guys. ****, Jimmy Johnson was from Arkansas.

Not sure I am getting your point regarding this "Miami culture" identity stuff.
You sound very angry.

its a simple concept: people want this team to have as little Miami influence as possible.

Seem to hate everything about the city, always talking sht about SoFla players, complaining about our HS football scene....it goes on and on but you get the point.

Oh and you sound very sensitive.

I'm guessing you were red-hot peeved when UM hired Schnellenberger and then Jimmy Johnson.
You know, two "twangy" rednecks from Kentucky and Texas, respectively.
LOL at you claiming Uncle Puke as part of soFla culture, especially with respect to your narrative
of "outsiders" who hate soFla.
Uncle Puke, GenRon, Queercy Wilson, and some of their fellow cronies in soFla have transformed the recruiting landscape
into a festering cesspool, so much that they slurp up the Nick Sabans, Jimbo Fishers, Muschamps, etc who
all share intense hatred of all-things-soFla, especially Miami.
LOL at your nonsense.

are you from Miami? if not then you have no clue what I am talking about and have no business commenting. B/c that is exactly my point, out of towners who have no clue how things work down here and have a certain way they want our program to be.

Where is the straw man? All the constant *****ing and hate for anything and anybody related to Miami.....where do you think these players are from? You might not want to stop recruiting them, but you hate what they stand for. And its not a healthy pipeline if you are constantly ****ting on the local community.

I dont have time to look thru the posts for you but just see how people always have bad **** to say about anything Miami from Luke to Ice Harris to HS players to our innercity culture down here blablabla and other sht that has nothing to do with our program. It used to be America hated what we stand for, but now as you can see most of our out of town fanbase also hates what we stand for.

where are you from sir? like it or not all those people you HATE from Luke to Genron to Quincy are loved and well respected in the community. All that sht talking on the internet wont do anything to change that.

u think recruits give a fk about ur opinion of those people? People talk all that junk about Luke and have no clue. Obviously are not from Miami. He has contributed greatly to this community throughout the years and that means more to these kids than some loser on a message board talkin crap about people he doesnt know and calling them out their name from the safety of your keyboard.
