Former Player Insider's Perspective

Rick is the polar opposite of JJ and no one is revolting against him. Other than that, very insightful parallel, OP.

This is not what I am hearing at all. Nice and sweet in front of cameras but pretty driven, fair and an sob on the field. Face it, there are many players on this team from the Golden(Entitlement) era, and many that can't play, like Darling, that will not be here next year. He has already gotten rid of about 20 of them.

Darling?? Lmao he's by far not even close our best OL, just playing LT because inept recruiting and development at the position

That is exactly what I said, he cannot play. He is not qualified to be a D1 starting OT.

Not defending Rich but Sorrels has been saying since day one that we do not have any OT's. I believe MR has recognized this and hence the running game taking priority in the offense. If passing had taken precedence this season, Kaaya would be a dead man right now.

he's already a dead man, a walking ghost that just braces to get hit while throwing into double coverage if he's not sailing one 10 yards over a 5 yard out route

Once MR get his players, his record has always been that of a 10-2 team. Do not expect championships for that is not MR's forte.

Tom Brady could not pass with this offensive line.

But he's the best one on our roster. You're trying to say we need to push out our most talented OL just because he's playing out of position due to things he can't control

Like many of you I am very frustrated with our season, However I personally work with a former Canes player from the Schnellenberger/Johnson era that offers a different perspective I had not thought of and from a player's point of view. According to him at the beginning of the Johnson era, there were about 30 players, including him, that revolted against Jimmy's approach and regime. Jimmy was a totally cut throat coach. If you did not do your job, you were replaced immediately. These 30 players were trying to transfer to other schools such as Louisville. His point is that a new coach has to have around 3 years to have his players, culture and philosophy in place. According to this former player, MR's situation is no different. The majority of our players are sub-par players. Not only were the first 4 games were against inferior competition, our Team talent is very inferior to those of the last 3 teams we've played. Defensively we are fine but that offensive line is not of MR's caliber, and as we lose games, the Team's internal negative chatter becomes louder and louder. There will be many other players leaving the team and I guarantee you that next year's offense/offensive live will look totally different than today's.

Our talent IS NOT inferior to UNC or VT.
If your friend said this, then he has no idea what he is talking about.
And your friend and you should consider not dumping on the current players, many of whom were recruited by all the major programs. It is Richt's job to have these players prepared and playing to their collective strengths.
Period.
And back to VT, Frank Beamer did a terrible job of recuirting his last few years, which is why he no longer is working.....left Fuente less than Golden did Richt....I''m not going to bag on our coach yet like many of the hysteria queens on this board but, by the same token, not going to bag on his players either. That's wrong and your friend needs to follow the program closer.

You have no freaking clue of what you are talking about. Maybe 3-4 of our offensive players could vie for playing time in a top 10 Team. The rest of them could not even be back ups. On the defensive side of the ball our talent is much better. If you do not see this than you are football blind. Most of these players are Golden leftovers which were pretty much ones that other teams did not want.... Again I AM NOT A MR SUPPORTER AND HAVE NEVER BEEN!!!

Can't play OT Bro. Does not have the foot quickness. It is what it is Bro.

Exactly what I said. But no one else on the roster can either

He's not going to be thrown off...he's going to be thrown inside. I'm willing to bet Darling's a NFL prospect playing inside

Completes a lot of passes for a dead man.

You're a homer if you think our offense is that talented. No OL, below average QB, a blind RB paired with a slow RB, an inconsistent WR group, and two potential NFL TEs. Our two weakest positions on the entire team just so happen to be the two most important.

I spoke/posted about this possible scenario last week. I felt that this could be a possibility as I am aware of what HC's go through when first arriving at a program.

However, seeing his play-calling versus VT, and watching him get wrecked by a fellow first year coach in Fuente kinda changed my mind.

Isn't it the same personnel from last year?

And they were pretty bad last year, so?

So now the narrative is that our players are all soft and quit and have revolted against Rick because that's what happened to JJ?

You guys love killing our players. I haven't noticed our guys quitting AT ALL this year. They played as hard and as spirited as I've ever seen a UM team play against FSU.

I've seen absolutely no evidence of them quitting or revolting against Rick. The only thing revolting has been the offensive production.

Look, nobody's happy with Kayaa right now, but "bellow average"? In what way? Can you fing 60-ish QBs in the country you'd rather have?

Not this bad.

Yea they were. We struggled to score more than 14 points in our losses last year also. It doesn't help that the offense has asked more of Kaaya this year and he simply can't handle it.

However, seeing his play

I am not a MR supporter and have never been. Compare him to Saban and Meyer and you clearly see the differences of what it takes to be a Championship coach.

Have you been watching our OL?
