They doubled the police force and it cut down crime significantly...I mean what are you trying to say? Wow.

A meaningful change that would help the situation IMO is to end police officer union contracts. You would save money and be able to hold these bad apples accountable for their abhorrent behavior.

Where's the wow lol? They dismantled the status quo in favor of a different approach. The answer wasn't just "add more cops". They decided to alter an approach that hadn't worked in the city. Got rid of Camden City police and adopted community policing/trust with the Camden County police. Again, I'm from there, how are you trying to educate me?

No. The way I hear that, is the demand of the people, for the defunding and dismantling of the status quo. "Do **** differently. Were tired of the Same Ol BullSh1t!!!" is what I hear. People are tired of paying for and then watching the same **** show over and over. Much like our fans are tired of the **** that Manny and Co. has been putting on the field under the guise of 'Hurricane Football' as of late. Bruh, NOBODY wants to live in a totally lawless society. Think. There's no safety there. Dr. Maslow (Hierarchy of Needs) taught us that a long time ago.

Highest per capita incarceration rate, and also the highest number of individuals incarcerated anywhere on the planet. Americans are approximately 5% of the world's population, but Americans make up about 25% of the world's incarcerated population. As of 2019, China (running second in sheer numbers) has over a billion more citizens than the USA, but we have about 2.1 million Americans incarcerated compared to China's 1.6 million. Brazil comes in third with about 700K citizens incarcerated. Followed by that bastion of freedom, Russia, with about 550K incarcerated citizens. India (with its population of about 1.35 billion) rounds out the top 5 with just over 430K incarcerated citizens.

It's ridiculous. Just goes to show you how strong the prison lobby is in Washington. Far too many people are in prison for minor crap like weed.

Meanwhile Jamal from North Philly or Jo Jo from the trailer park gets caught with a pocket-full of coke and gets the book thrown at them. What kind of "war" is that?

And the system is also ridiculously, over-the-top punitive on non-violent criminals, and I'm not talking about major white-collar thefts and scams. Drug offenses continue to clog the system and account for about 20% of incarcerations at any given time. The incarceration rate is very real, it just doesn't fit your narrative about who should be doing time, and for what offense.

I believe the War on Drugs has had exactly the intended effect: to destroy lives while perpetuating state power and control. The War on Drugs has killed infinitely more people than recreational drug use could ever have aspired to.

According to the World Prison Brief, China had an incarceration rate of 118 per 100,000 as of mid-2015 (for 1,649,804 sentenced prisoners in Ministry of Justice prisons only). The World Prison Brief states that in addition to the sentenced prisoners, there may be more than 650,000 held in detention centers. "A total prison population of 2,300,000 would raise the incarceration rate to 164 per 100,000."[10]

After 2015 there was a great increase in the number of people in the Xinjiang re-education camps. In May 2018, Randall Schriver of the United States Department of Defense claimed that "at least a million but likely closer to three million citizens" were imprisoned in detention centers in a strong condemnation of the "concentration camps".[11][12][13] In August 2018, a United Nations human rights panel said that it had received many credible reports that 1 million ethnic Uyghurs in China have been held in "re-education camps".[14][15]

Ur lame. I agree non violent offenders shouldn't be rotting in prison. But you have to throw the book at violent ones. Everyone always forgets about the victims.

You can’t just look at the statistics and then just make a conclusion. We also have the largest amount of drug consumption as well as the largest amount of violent crimes including a ridiculously armed civilian population whether it’s legal or illegal he obtained.
We are also the third most populated country in the world. We also are one of the few countries that can actually afford to incarcerate large amount of people.
we’re not just throwing people in jail for no reason.

Absolutely not. I’m Colombian and the only thing a drug war is good for is profits for the private companies try at help fight the war. But illegal drug trade also had a trickle down economic component to it. But wasting billions of tax payer dollars to arrest addicts since Nixon took office is the very definition of insanity.
