Former FSU player shot, caught on camera.

So a crowd yelling “GTFO we are voting you out if you don’t abolish the police,” means we want cops, but just different cops, to you?

Voting to abolish the police in Minneapolis without a plan to replace them, and saying already existing social services will replace them, means those people still want cops too?

This is a pretty level-headed sentiment. Consequences have actions, which should be weighed and measured. And sometimes the proposed cure is worse than the disease.

I do believe we have legitimate problems with law enforcement in this country and something must change. But I don't believe dismantling entire police precincts without first considering how, exactly, laws will be enforced in any given community is a legitimate solution to the problem.

Maybe you should take a field trip to Liberty City, or pull up a few episodes of first 48, it doesn't matter much or at all if a police car is sitting close, I can't speak for nowhere else, but here, when the fellas come to get you, a police not gone save you, in fact when them choppa's start letting lose, the police start trying to save themselves.

In fact, in certain neighborhoods they told the police don't park and do reports, back in the day when the police use to do that, they got caught slippin, and ****'s would have a gun in they face and make them pop the trunk and get the confiscated weapons outta their, and he'd be lucky to keep his. In some neighborhoods it's like New year's Eve, notice how you don't see police normally by no later than 1145-11:50, they start hiding round than or earlier, cause they know, payback time, ARTHUR MCDUFFIE, NEVELL JOHNSON, WILLIAM LLOYD, ALLAN BLANCHARD, and the many other victims who passed away or got shot and survived by those cowards with badges and guns!
Calvin ur so intimidating im just too scared to reply lol ur *****made homie

This is it. Police unions are a huge issue. Unions in general are.

However, this is not the same as the bumper sticker slogan "Defund the Police". I'm sorry but you lose me there if that is what you are trying to make excuses for.

I'm sure someone else has mentioned the old saying in politics "If you're explaining you're losing". That's why you've seen almost everyone flee from "Defund the police" (aside from right wing media that wants to keep it alive and some element of the far left like your AOC types and some Libertarians that enjoy being "pure" but irrelevant).

But you're the perfect example of why that phrase is true. Someone apparently open to changes but that could also be very easily lost if your messaging is garbage or you don't check the crazies that try to coopt it.

Incidentally, police unions have no real power. They can't strike, if they do, the President can deem them 'neccessary' and force them back to work of threats of prison time.

Happened in the Reagan administration.

Same thing happened with the Air Traffic Control guys.

Thats why even if a Truckers Union came back, they would have no real power.

Do I agree with that? No. Forcing people to work when they don't want to work is Slavery.

I get it and I'm with you, but why are you referring to AOC as a far left fringe type? She is being propped up by many on the left as the future of the party, even advising Biden at times. This is where it starts to get ridiculous and even a bit scary (the chick is a complete moron and has 0 clue). Those types are becoming more and more mainstream because they take over the narrative. Its that give an inch and they take a mile situation. I'm completely down with any liberal that will have a good open conversation, but those types are being drowned out by the loudest, most insane voices that are being cowtailed to lately. Miss me with that ****.

OK, so I'm gonna try to explain this one more time, and then I'm done. If you don't get it, then we're just gonna have to agree to disagree. Look, they want to abolish THEIR police to try something different. They don't have a clear cut idea of what they want to replace it with yet, because the cooler heads of the movement, haven't had the chance to sit down with city officials to come up with a plan. They just know what they have now is NOT working. People are hurt, mad, angry, and upset right now. They're mad that the status quo has failed them and continue to fail them, time and time again. It's really not hard to understand if you listen. I know you hear what they saying, but are you listening? They want to see change. These people do not want to end all policing, they just want to end the system of **** poor policing that they feel that they have been getting. :noidea:

I think you’re making the mistake of deciding everyone in this movement is reasonable as you seem to be, but they aren’t. If you watched the video I sent it literally said a “police free future.” It doesn’t get any more clear than that. There is literally a couple blocks of Seattle blocked off that people took over and are demanding police be abolished. Minneapolis is voting to abolish the entire department.

Yes there are cooler heads in the movement that should prevail and that don’t want police to be gone, but a very large portion of the movement including Antifa and BLM that won’t cops to be a thing of the past, and do not want them replaced either. Decent people and crazy people can coexist in movements and one doesn’t always speak for the other, but you can’t just whitewash a large portion of it bc they are crazy

Glad those dudes can't shoot. Look at the dude with the rifle and the lean back. What a bunch of clowns who will catch there's soon enough.
That guy probably got some ear damage from the pistol behind him.

And Likewise, you can't paint everyone with the same brush as being crazy, either. They're gonna be fringe idiots in every movement. The key is not letting the fringe become too upfront.

Btw Philadelphia is one of the major cities that want police defunded. If this **** happens now, imagine what will happen with a depleted PD. Digusting what is happening in our cities.
Don’t get political now. When it’s done, their will be well-qualified social workers and community organizers to step in.

But i dnt stay far from edison park n im tempted

I don't give a ***** where you stayed, you could've grew up next door to me, that **** you talking, we always got something for like you who get out of line, you might want to stick to football playa!

What is "real" education to you? What kind of "healing"are you doing?

Idk what you believe is going to change cancerous criminal element that occupy the inner city but ill tell this. You might change a people that commit petty crimes. People do make mistakes but you will not change people that shoot at others, in the middle of the day, in the middle of an intersection. That kinda of stuff is only deterred by punitive consequences.

White people used to shoot up American cities with tommy guns to control vice trades. You don’t see that much any more (mass shootings are much less frequent and not really the same thing).

What changed? How come that hardened, “cancerous” criminal element got cleaned up, but it can’t be when black people do it?

The reason is this nation refuses to do for black children what it did for white children.

Alcohol Prohibition created mass white gun violence. They turned their sons into gangsters and their daughters into whores. The violence and corruption got so bad that even the staunchest teetotaler realized prohibition was much, much worse than regulation and they got rid of it to save their children.

No dice for black kids though. All they get is propaganda and profiteer prisons.

It isn’t just a race thing though because they just offered up the white youth to the carnage of opiate addiction and use prison to deal with what is essentially a medical problem.

Private prison profits, gun sales, political control. There are many reasons we refuse to end the madness and save our children. All those reasons are dressed in phony altruism. The alcohol prohibition showed us how destructive and futile the narcotics prohibition would be, but the indoctrinated who lack critical thinking skills still fall for the propaganda and the violence and death persist.

Let’s not pretend that there is no hope. White people did it for their community. Why not for ours?

Ill keep it short bc im tired of the back n fourth. If there is such a thing as institutional racism that effects the black community today it has nothing to with policing, Jim Crow, or slavery, those arguments are relics.

Its the welfare state, a consistent pattern of voting against their own interests, and the constant promoting of the negative aspects of black culture. Thomas Sowell possibly the greatest intellectual of our time and yes hes black calls it the black redneck culture.

I have no doubt that this can be fixed however its gonna take massive growing pains.

Prohibition literally created machine gun violence in America. Both the alcohol and narcotics. You conveniently ignored all that to go straight to right wing propaganda.

Black people don’t own anything to be able to promote anything. The race to the bottom is a direct effect created by prohibition psychology.

If they doubled down on the alcohol prohibition, the white community would have had the exact same race to the bottom.

Thomas Sowell is a jack *** partisan that likes to ignore the entire story. He is filled with self hatred and is always attempting to make distinctions between his class of black 10%ers and “those” negroes. He tries to minimize the effect of what America does to prop his kind up as “special”. They are to a certain extent.

The vast majority of those who fall for the propaganda of partisan politics don’t have the big picture critical thinking skills to speak intelligently on these subjects.

You don’t know or understand what institutional racism really is. Whether that ignorance is authentic or feigned is inconsequential.

There are many pieces to this puzzle. Personal responsibility is only one with limited application. You don’t want to go back and forth, so I won’t bother explaining to you why that is. If you want to know, I will take the time to explain it to you later.
