I appreciate your post, but from my perspective, it always seemed like to me that white people seem to be more angst ridden and thereby more suicide prone. But that’s just a meaningless behavioral observation from me. Now this is from the CDC, and it’s pretty straightforward - these are confirmed suicides.

While it may seem that certain ethnic groups have a higher suicide rate, I think the only thing we can look at is the actual data.

Either way, it’s too many no matter what the race.

I think where this has went off-track (and it's mostly my fault because an actual suicide was the impetus of this thread) is my reply was to someone mentioning mental health as a whole as not being treated seriously/effectively in this country. Suicide is absolutely a component to that epidemic but it's not the whole picture- especially when considering equitable access to mental health care and focus.

Eh it's all good, the main thing is we are all discussing it and it gets out there more. Regardless of race or this or that, it needs to be discussed more and specifically for men. It's a huge issue that people downplay way too often IMO so people hide it.

The sad part is the kids/family are left with the aftermath. Reminds me of the Megadeth song A tout Le Monde "You know the sleeping feel no more pain, And the living all are scarred.".

Brother, I don't have the bandwidth or the actual time to go down this path and it's nothing to do with you personally but just the breadth of the topic.

I'll just say this so as to provide some sort of response:

Sure, whites (and some other races) tend to have higher instances as an overall group of major depressive disorders but blacks and specifically black men have depressive episodes that are more disabling, more persistent, and more resistant to treatment relative to their white counterparts.

I'd contend that's largely society dropping the ball (intentionally or not) but it's a subject matter one could write many several dissertations on so I don't think we can or even should try to do it justice here.

Yeah, this problem, like drug abuse, is wide and varied enough that it doesn’t even need pigeon holed by race, socioeconomic status, etc… There’s a lot of people struggling in a lot of different ways for a lot of different reasons.

Horrible for everybody involved from the family that has to find out what happened to him and search for answers to the police officer that had the job to notify the family and probably didn’t even know how to comfort them because you really can’t in this situation. The victim is the only victim in suicides.

**** off. Humor is how some people cope. You don’t know what anyone is going through. Take your moral high ground and shove it up your *******
No one here is close enough to the kid to need to cope with the kids death. If your immediate family member dies and you need to make jokes to cope with it, that is cool. However, anyone that is such a total puzzy that they need to use some sort of coping mechanism to deal with the death needs to get their life together.

No one’s coping with this guys death. You’ve just got some self righteous fans acting as if he was some misunderstood guy who should be prayed for and it’s ***.

I know firsthand what suicide of a parent does to kids.

Pray for his fatherless kids instead.

You’re not coping with ****. You’re just being a ****. I don’t care if I get banned. You’re a piece of **** for making this about you and your fake “coping” comment. Being a piece of **** doesn’t make you a bigger cane fan than anybody on this board. You *****.

Sorry someone close to you killed themselves and everyone made them out to be hero to make you feel better. Truth hurts bub. I get it.

You’re a ***** too! Nobody is being self righteous.. it’s called compassion and not being a *****. You don’t know know anybodys relationship w him, even if they didn’t have one they are entitled to show compassion rather than make *** jokes about someone’s death. Shut tf up about what you don’t know. They aren’t “fatherless”. Their mother is married and they have a man in their life still.

Since you witnessed it firsthand one would think you wouldn’t be so ignorant.
