Fork in the Road

It's Year 4 of the Cristobal Era. We're entering the season as a Top Ten team. We've signed the best class in the conference three years in the row. We just produced the #1 pick in the NFL Draft, and we have the #1 player in America committed.

It's Year 4 of the Cristobal Era. We still haven't made an ACC Championship game. The whole nation laughed at us when we forgot to kneel the ball. We just lost the Pop Tart Bowl. We didn't sign a Top 10 class last year, and we don't have a Top 10 class this year.

All of that stuff is true at the same time. Now we've hit a fork in the road. Are we getting over the hump, or are we spinning in circles? This will be the most consequential season since 2000.
People will overreact if we lose to ND. Plenty of history where we lose an early game and have a great season, even win the whole thing. Now if we got blown out...

Pop Tart was meaningless. We win going away if Ward played the second half.

Do agree we are at a fork. Best roster since 2003. Still have to stay healthy in key spots.

Porsters will lose their ******* minds at any loss this season, except maybe deep CFPO run.

I honestly believe this is the best team Miami has had in 20+ years. Top to bottom.

We are National Championship level:
QB
OL
DL
CB

We are ALL ACC level:
RB
WR
TE
S

If we get even average linebacker play we should out talent everyone on our schedule. ND included.

Can we COACH at that level? Mario has won conferences before with better talent than his opposition. I believe he can do it this year.

Do you all remember the Cincinnati Bearcats of a few years ago? The ones that a few years before that embarrassed Al Golden and No D" in a Night Game and then went on a few year's later to the Top 4 in the Playoffs before getting a beatdown by Michigan? They had SCHEME. Only a few Jimmies and Joes. They got exposed once they got to Power 5 play by Real Teams with a pulse.

You have to have scheme and Jimmies and Joes. I think we're getting to the point where we have both. We could never stop FSU and Jimbo when they had Dalvin because they had better personnel. Period. We had Duke and Kaaya, but that wasn't enough to make up for the better personnel that were going up to the Teacher's College, Athens, and Tuscaloosa.

Notre Dame is a **** of a ball club, but I think we are at parity with them and we are at home with a better quarterback. I think the Canes will surprise a lot of people on August 31. But that's just me.

A victory over the Irish in front of an audience of all the top recruits in the country watching that game, either at the game or on TV? That can't hurt at all.
