? For those who say, "coaches can't let X recruit get away"

Ok whatever you say, but if you just look at rivals Florida rankings, there wer 46 4 star recruits in Florida and a quick glance shows roughly 60% or so are down state at least, and over 100 recruits in state alone over 3 star, with a boat load in s. Florida

thank you for playing.
Div 1 caliber is not a huge recruit. Nor do I consider half the state as local but carry on.........
There aren't 30 huge local recruits this year n the class is stacked this year. Local to me is Dade or broward.

um, how are 4 stars now just considered div 1 caliber?
Never said that. You used rivals and they had as you said 46 for the entire state. So most of them are from Dade n broward?

Uh Palm Beach?

Yes PBC is local. My bad

Or else it's a failure by the staff.

Pete just tweeted that it' a Complete failure by the staff if Cook goes elsewhere. Cook himself has said Miami is recruiting him as hard as any other school. If that's true, and he chooses to leave, what else can a staff do?

This isn't really about Cook, I just referenced him for the sake of the ?

What can a staff do if they recruit the **** out of a player, yet he chooses not to sign with said school.

To be a top program you must close on elite talent. What would UM look like with

Teddy Bridgewater
Amari Cooper
Sammy Watkins
Diggs

To go with
Duke
Yearby
Coley

This is why it is a failure because those players if on the same team would dominate collge football

...and we have closed on elite talent. It's a pretty ridiculous standard to list the "who's who" of top talent and then complain we didn't get them all. Notice that of those you mentioned, they are spread among numerous teams. No team gets them all.

It is pretty simple. Not closing on elite talent means you are rebuilding for 6 years instead of playing in BCS games.

First, we act like yearby sucks. In the ratings all 3 of the rbs are rated pretty similarly . Second, with all 3 of those guys u are most likely losing two of them. How is that counted as a failure. If we signed cook maybe yearby would have gone somewhere else. Then what, would u consider missing on a top 20 player in the nation in your own backyard a failure if he didn't sign. Thirdly, they obviously know what to do, they got coley, bush and Howard who were not considered locks. If they follow the same approach and in the end the players says no thank you, how can u blame the coach. Miami hasn't been a success for 10 years. The old saying still applies. If u win, they will come.

The Yearby thing has been beaten to death on here already also.......

I never said he had to be perfect, that doesn't excuse him from failing to sign major local targets year after year.

Every single coach in the nation "fails" to sign major local targets year after year. So what? That doesn't make a coach a failure, it simply means he is constrained by reality. The simple fact is that Golden has done an incredible job recruiting, and since his first class, which was a last-second scramble, he's had exemplary classes, and is often cited among the top recruiting head coaches in the nation.

...but it's also pretty simple that we HAVE closed on a very large percentage of top local talent. That's the reason our recruiting classes have been ranked so high, and this year will be even higher, post-NCAA mess. You can go to any major school, even one with the #1 recruiting class, and find talent that they "whiffed" on that they wanted badly. So what?

...the asinine idea that the coaches have "failed" in recruiting has also been beaten to death on here.
