Davis, Herman, Fuente, in that order.

I have my reservations regarding Davis. Even the most loyal Butch supporters will admit he isn't the finest gameday tactician.

That being said, we already have a good roster. He steps in next year and we can win big immediately. He brings the credibility, the ability to assemble a quality staff, and has the eye for talent second to no one. Under Butch, we wouldn't rebuild, we would reload. The idea has also been floated around that he coaches 4 to 5 seasons and grooms the next coach under his tutelage. It doesn't always work out that way, but if this doesn't present itself as a potential seamless transition, I'm not sure what does.

And for anyone questioning if Davis is too old or if he wouldn't bring the enthusiasm or charisma, you're a certified lunatic. He's been waiting over a decade to get another crack at winning a National Title here. He realizes he made a colossal mistake leaving and will do whatever it takes to get the opportunity to win it all at UM again.

If not Davis, roll the dice on Herman or Fuente.

Herman, in particular, is the right "fit" for Miami the way Folden wasn't. Miami kids would want to play in and would succeed in his offensive system.

Pipe Dream: Chip Kelly, Gary Patterson

Intriguing: Hue Jackson, Chuck Pagano

Burn the Program to the Ground: Greg Schiano, Mario Cristobal, Lane Kiffin

I'm not sifting through 8 pages, but another name is Dino Babers from Bowling Green. Played RB/DB at Hawaii. OC at Arizona and TAMU, assistant HC at UCLA, assistant at Baylor under Art Briles, then jumped to head coaching at Eastern Illinois where he did 2 years of winning records and making the FCS playoffs each year, and now he's currently in his second year at BG. Lost by 3 pts to Fuente's Memphis squad earlier this year. Just on paper alone, he seems like the kind of "up and comer" our cheapskate BOT would look to make. No idea about his recruiting acumen.

Whoa! You have a brain!

I'm not sure. But I just want to vent about something. Why do we need a legacy guy? A "miami guy". Schnelly started it all so he obviously wasn't a miami guy. Jimmy wasn't a miami guy. Butch Davis was... bit so was Larry and randy.

I'm just saying that we shouldn't limit ourselves to this narrative of miami guys. Whether it's butch, mario, chud, Pagano etc. They need to make sure they get it right and get the right mix of a coach. A guy who is hungry, aggressive, goes after it and wants to recruit the he'll out of Florida and leave his mark. If that's a "miami guy", then fine. If not, so be it.

Start with Pagano and Chud. Add in Harsin from Boise and Charlie Strong at Texas.

If it gets really bad, look deeper. Can always retain Larry Scott if he does a good job.

Don't see why I got downvoted 15 times for this. Both Harsin and Strong are decent options, especially Harsin in my opinion.

I know his 11 wins (over 3 seasons) are SICK!

DO u know where he coaches?

It is 11 wins. Rich Brooks was able to win 8 games twice in a row at Kentucky.

What are we supposed to judge him on? Seriously. So we look at his wins (11) total. 7 of them are against: ULL, EKU, ULM, Tenn-Martin, Ohio, Miami (OH) and Alabama State.

The other 4 wins were against:

2014 Vandy 3-9 (0-8)
2014 South Carolina 7-6 (3-5)
2015 South Carolina 2-4 (0-4)
2015 Missouri 4-4 (1-4) By far the most impressive win

Here's the thing. If you don't hire one of the truly hottest candidates or best guys, why bother firing golden?

Any coach who isn't elite will be having banners flown by year 3 or 4.

I am not interested in a coach who can be "better than Al and Randy". Half the coaches in FBS could do better than them. I want a coach who will have this program as one of the top programs in the country, competing for the playoffs.

It's always odd to me that you have a fanbase that can be so astute in knowing that a coach needs to be fired, yet so clueless about the type of coach needed to win.

Butch was gonna coach FIU for $500k.

If he offers to take the Miami job for $1 mil per how do you say no?

You would have unlimited resources to hire assistants.
