Florida ready to block Miami entry into SEC

Is there any chance the rest of the SEC wouldn’t want FSU and Miami coming?

The pair is not Miami and FSU.

It's Clemson and FSU.

They both fit like a glove in the $EC.

Been saying this for a while — and others here have as well — that we are no sure thing for the SEC.

The things that have us so excited and give us a shot at winning big— CMC's elite recruiting abilities, an upgraded coaching staff and the impact of John Ruiz – are red flags to the SEC whether everyone realizes it or not.

If A2M or UT-Austin or Free Shoes or Dabbo and Clempson come in and win big, it's one thing.

If the Miami Hurricanes with Mario Cristobal and John Ruiz do the same, it's gonna be a problem for those folks in Birmingham.

I know most of y'all already know this, but take it from someone who's lived in the "real South" his whole life: Canes generate a different kind of hate in this part of the country.

Only way we're getting in S-E-C is if ESPN ramrods that **** thru and Greg Sankey has no choice.

Those Crker *** Crkers really afraid of having to play us every year or at least more often. They don't want to play in Miami as well. It's actions this and them blocking us, why I say The U is the Ngyers of college football. Maybe this will make our complaints more understandable.

There are many people outside of this fanbase who would love to have Miami relegated to a second tier conference. If we get stuck in the Mickey Mouse ACC it would decimate recruiting going forward. What top 100 kid does not want to play in the big boy conferences?

It doesn’t matter what conference we in B1tc4 a$$ Gayturds! CMC comin’ for everyone, get that lube ready CFB cause we fuccin.

It’s not just the turds, it’s SCar too with Clemson.

Good thing their opinion doesn’t mean jack **** when the majority of the other SEC teams see the financial opportunity of adding both Miami and Clemson. That coupled with the large media conglomerates eyeing revenue from these markets, Nothing else matters.

I don't either but the article pulls right up if you Google it. Seems like a pretty good data driven article about each teams tv market. Believe it could cause for some nice debate. Or else please let me know how to post a link and I will post. Thanks.

Well the Athletic is a sub site, so you can’t read it without a sub, but here’s the link:

And here’s a janky link that will probably give you a virus, with the whole article:

The long and short of it is that Clemson and FSU have more games with over a million viewers of late than anyone else in the ACC, along with Washington and Oregon. Miami is fifth in that group, and honestly it’s pretty shocking because FSU and Clemson are far and away the better draws. Miami is fifth but we are extremely close to being 7-8th too.

My counter would be that when Miami is good we draw as well as anyone else in the country, which is fact, but we also haven’t been good in decades. So we have a high ceiling and a low floor, but we also haven’t touched the ceiling in far too long.

Won't matter if the others agree to us joining. Similar to TexasA&M trying to block UT from joining the SEC.
Completely agree. It just exposes them as the scared pussies they are.

The funny thing is that UF making noise about it just brings more attention to it. I can see it being a weekly topic on the Finebaum show especially when we're winning making moves to the CFP. There will be in-fighting with UF fans calling in saying how it's a bad idea and then callers from Alabama and Georgia saying, "It's OK for Clemson, but NOT Miami? Why Y'all scared?"

Just sit back with your bucket of popcorn. It's going to be an entertaining ride!!!

Good thing is we have two potential landing spots: SEC or Big Ten - and each is run by a different (rival) network.

Our best shot is FOX and/or ESPN telling those in charge of the two super conferences:

"You need to add Miami ... and we'll make it worth your while to do so."

Agree. I think it points out a couple of things as well. FSU following is bigger than most think. Also as bad as Miami has been they are still fifth. There will be somewhat of a gamble with UM that they will return to relevance but all signs point to them doing so. If they lay an egg like they have the past 20 years then it will prob still pay off just not as good. In any case the future is what will matter, as in any business acquisition, and IF it comes down to UM verses FSU that is where some smart people will need to make the call.

Agree, and if our side gets to pitch I trust Rad and Co to make a much more compelling case than the bumblers in Tallahassee.

And, maybe most important of all: Turds, Holes, Bama, LSU and the rest DO NOT WANT the Canes locking down SoFla recruiting.

SEC lets us in and we proceed to do just that?

Like I said, folks in Birmingham got a problem on their hands

I thought those day were over. Isn’t it all up to the ESPN execs now?

Wrong.

We're not getting in before those idiots

No way, no how.

The SEC office and ESPN will be fine with adding FSU and Clemson once this ACC GoR gets untangled.

Bringing Miami into their exclusive club is a whole 'nother deal.

Again, think all of us here would agree on which particular conference (or, more specifically, schools from that conference) suggested the NCAA go "speak with" John Ruiz.

ESPN is getting us in the SEC or FOX is getting us in the B1G.

Or we ain't gettin' in.

@Boarcane, who is very connected, thinks it’s UM and Clemson. Until he says otherwise, I’ll believe him and the other posters on this board who have inside information.

No SEC team will have any veto power over who enters the league.
Indeed, every team coiuld be opposed to the admission of school X and it wont matter
This entire issue is being driven by one thing-TV RATINGS.
Fox and ESPN will decide who is in which league just as ESPN did with Oklahoma and Texas, and Fox did with USC and UCLA.

The idea that UF could block UM from entering the SEC is quaint and naive. And frankly silly.

Well said.

Both FSU and UF got a lot more hardcore fans than we do (especially in this state), but that's part of what makes the Canes unique: UM's fanbase is, as the saying goes, a mile wide and an inch deep.

We got our diehards for sure but probably a lot higher percentage of bandwagon fans than just about any other College Football program.

But when we rolling, those bandwagon fans gonna be right there with the diehards.
