Fiscal Reality

and yet Miami regularly fired coaches on extended contracts after they crashed and burned in the same exact manner Cristobal is now. He’ll get fired next year; this is the exact same story that’s been playing out for 20 years.
You gotta be trolling or sumn.. my dude NO Miami coach in our history has had the financial backing that Mario currently has, if you think he’s getting fired next year you are delusional my good fellow

This is what UM fans say every season before a coach gets fired

This is a strawman bull**** thing because the powers that we aren’t about to fire him anyway no matter what people you think they want

In realignment decisions are not going to be made on one season of football

How about 18 seasons?..

Correct.

Begs the question*: What if Manny Diaz had same level of support Big Manny has had?

*Not defending Manny Diaz, but this is a hard question that should be discussed

We’d be a perennial 8-4 & 9-3 ceiling team with Manny with this same support.. Malachi Toney would be making plays at Bama/Osu if manny was our coach his evaluations were terrible

The most realistic option is to invest in building an elite coaching staff that is too stellar for Mario to fail with.

Speculation about what UM can/cannot afford is just that......speculation from those who don’t know squat about UM’s finances. Hire a real coach and the money will come. Please give it a rest with the UM can’t afford buyout, blah blah blah.

As for building an elite coaching staff who wants to work for Mario when the writing is on the wall and the national media is piling on? The planes will be flying next.

With several big schools looking to hire a new HC this cycle, and with a limited supply of available elite HC candidates… there is going to be a bidding war for the best coaches.

Does UM have the financial resources to pay Mario’s buyout and then get into a bidding war with the likes of LSU, Penn State, UF, Arkansas, and Auburn for a new HC?

The question will be:

Are these big $ backers loyal to Miami?
Or are they loyal to Mario?

At some point, they're not going to keep investing, whether in Miami or Mario, if they don't get returns. Those guys invest because they want a national title. They want Miami back on top, where it belongs.

They have been willing to write blank checks because they believe Mario is the guy to do it. And his leash may be longer than many other coaches. But at some point, they'll start doubting Mario and Mario will be given restrictions/limitations like "you need to give this up" or "you need to hire this coach" or something like that. And Mario will be forced to adapt or die.

Then the backers can decide again how involved they want to be with hiring another coach.

I think Manny has developed into a better coach than Mario. Certainly a better xo and gamey coach. Low bar, yes, but who thinks Mario would be doing as well at Duke?
