I didnt like the hire to start with, i watched him here at Texas. I love his attacking style, but hate all the crazy blitz schemes for a couple reasons. For one it makes the players have to think too much, its too complicated all these schemes, it takes some of their focus from just playing football, he's making playing defense too complicated when its not. #2 it leaves us wide *** open, its a gamble, and a gamble we dont need to take, there's a time to blitz for sure, but its like he does it for no reason at all. I garantee you ask Vilma, Ed R, Vince, any of those boys and they will agree with what i'm saying, they hardly ever blitzed. Blitzing is for when an O is driving on you and you cant stop them, you dont do it just for the **** of it, yea the TFL's look great on paper, but when you get a TFL then turn around and give up a 25yd pass in the middle WTF good is that. Every time we have an O backed up and its 3rd and long i hold my breath, the last 2 years we gave up a ton of 1st downs in that situation, seems better this year though. Here's the thing, if you can get pressure with your front there is ZERO need to blitz, and we are getting pressure, if your front 4 is getting in the backfield why in the F would you send 3 or 4 more, which leaves a 20 yard empty space in front of the DB's. There are no good offenses left on our sked, we have waaay better athletes than all of em, so i expect we will do well on D, Clem's o-line will be able to pick up those blitzes i can assure you, and that spells doom for the D, but surely a top notch cat like Manwell Diaz knows this ??
