You'd think by now people would realize that preseason NFL projections for QB's are about as valuable as Lego money.

Idk if you guys know this or not, but a lot of NFL scouts are really fuxkin dumb...

Many of them also don't have a clue what a good QB looks like.

Many scouts just like this scene - different sport same mentality.

If Mendoza has good but not great year, ala Cam in 23 at Washington St.

If Beck has a great year and becomes a 1st round pick.

Why couldnt we persuade Mendoza to come back to college to help his draft stock like Ward and Beck. If Beck becomes a 1st pick, Mario could easily show Mendoza or another QB for that matter the twice established path.

That would allow Nickel and Coleman extra time to mature and show they could the starter in ‘27?

Pretty sure we wouldn't have made that kind of investment we did if we weren't extremely confident he'll be good to go by Fall. The alternative is we bring in an okay QB and settle and not go after a top 5 QB. A gamble if we didn't know Beck would enter the portal? Sure but it worked out. It was the same argument last year that we should have settled for Will Howard because we weren't sure about Cam. Kind of think you're on an island with that philosophy.

The other one was guaranteed beck wasn’t at the time . Sometimes you gamble and win but if we would have lost and been stuck with our QBs www would be lucky to win 6 games

Sure, and if we settled for Mendoza does he take us to the playoffs? Or an ACC title? You gotta roll the dice sometimes and I'm kind of shocked people prefer settling.
 
If we think the portal is a possbility, we need to do a better job of tampering ahead of time. I don’t mind rolling the dice, but it’s going to come up snake eyes sooner than later. Kinda saw that last couple of years with WR transfer targets.

I actually believe so , he fits the rpo well . Only thing that kept us last year was defense and that should be a lot better .

No it really isn't. They clearly didn't think Mendoza is good enough to take this team as far as they want it to go. What's baffling is this contingent of you guys that are okay with a lower ceiling. So maybe they rolled the dice a bit not necessarily knowing Beck would become available and his health status, but the fact he's on campus and well on track to be 100% proves they made the right call.

This wouldn't surprise me at all. If Beck puts up big numbers this year, which given this system I think he will, i'd be shocked if he wasn't at the very least in the conversation of being a first round selection. If that's the case, Qb's will lining up outside of Hecht to be our 26 QB
