Everyone has their warts. We are in a better place today than a long time. However, look at Florida way better off with Mullen than Napier. Now what, grass is not always greener. I stick with Mario.
Im with you and i criticize him plenty. He’s not going anywhere and has a long term guaranteed contract supported there and in NIL by his boys. It is what it is and so is Mario.

At least he tries to improve each year and I think he does incrementally. I’d like to see him overhaul the running game approach and all as I think if he does that, he can still get us into the playoffs this year.

I’ve had issues with his talent identification in the past but this past cycle and 24 it’s been really good.

Private school contracts are not public info but the rumor is Mario’s buyout would be $61M if terminated before the end of this season. That’s not going to happen. I imagine a year from December that number starts going down. Again, I’m not an authority but every competing public school contract is like that.

Also, how many coaches are even if this category for cycling? Say what you want, but Miami is a Top 15 or 20 job in college football but it is definitively not a Top 5 or 10 job.

Even this cycle, the best candidates are Lane (who lost to two unranked teams last year with arguably the most talented roster in the sport), James Franklin (we all know the story) and Eli Drinkwitz (I guess he's good).

There are only like 7-8 coaches who definitively have better credentials than Mario and none of those guys are leaving their current jobs, so we are firing guys who go 10-2 so we can play pin the tail on the hot coordinator with a good offense? Miss me with that.

Mario deserves better than to watch our fanbase abandon ship because we lost by three points to an underrated Louisville team with one of the best playcalling head coaches in the sport.

Miss me with he deserves better. He burned through his deserves better sucking for 2 years, never kneeling, choking away a 21-0 lead and playoff birth with a generational QB and looking clueless Friday night.

People are insane.

Last year's title game featured a team that lost to 7-5 Michigan and Oregon vs. a team that lost to NIU.

We've spent the last 20 years wandering through the desert of mediocrity, and following our second 10-win season in 20 years people are ready to fire Mario while currently ranked in the top 10. All of this following wins over not 1, not 2, but 3 of our rivals this season.

Half of our fans have absolutely no vision on how they want to fix things, they just like to *****. This is how you wind up with Larry Coker. Randy Shannon. Al Golden. Manny Diaz. Always chasing the next guy who is going to go undefeated over a 10 year span.

Mario has us firmly in the national conversation after 20 years of shoveling crap, and people are ready to run him out of town because of a 3 point loss featuring 4 picks and what I assume was 200 penalties against one of the most upset-crazed coaches in the game today.

Absolute lunacy.

Will you say this after we lose again down the stretch and miss the playoffs?

What is unique about the current era of Canes football is not Mario. What is unique is the financial backing. As long as retain that, any coach will succeed here.

Yes.

Because what qualifies as an absolute, abject disaster for the remainder of the season? 2 more losses? 3?

2 more would put us at a record that we have surpassed ONE TIME since 2003 before Cristobal arrived.

Regarding funding, until the sun has set on the Cristobal era I'm not doing a post-mortem on what has made his tenure successful. It has helped of course, but none of us truly know how to allot the accolades.

Miami competes against other schools with financial backing. The difference is Mario.

I'm happy with Mario so far, some people hate Mario, like my Uncle who is a die hard Cane fan never wanted Mario as the coach, he wanted Lane Kiffin, I was also one of the ones that wanted Lane, but seeing what Mario has done so far I am happy with the results, would I had love to make the playoffs last season..yes, didnt happen but this is the most excited ive been about Cane football in a while so I'll take it, it is not fun watching football when Miami is 7-5 and fighting foe bowl eligibility every year, do I think we lose another game? yes, but I like my chances going 10-2 and hopefully we can still get into the playoffs with that record.

Mario has built a real roster and I'll take a championship roster over some mickey mouse guy who can't recruit but I would prefer knowing we are fully delegating to the coordinators and listening to analysts and being high IQ in addition to high talent.

From the quotes it seems like the OC hiring process first goes through a filter of whether the OC's blocking scheme and run game fits with Mirabal, then our play-calling tendencies get adjusted toward conservative plays that are less likely to be stopped for negative yards.

Our #1 offense was because of Ward not because we spammed duo while cosplaying as Michigan, I don't wanna hear "it is what it is we gonna keep running into stacked boxes" out of our staph.
Did you just say Mario built a real roster?
Have you seen our linebackers and tight ends?

Not calling you out as I've seen this said a lot but is this actually still true? I really doubt it. Whatever happens with Mario, i think he's at least proven the school can be significant again and I'm assuming boosters want to see how far this thing can go.

At the time he was hired, i think this statement more than likely applied...at least to a certain extent.
That would make me more than happy

We need to be careful with our wishes. He goes, and the NIL money goes with him.
that's what scares me, awful game day HC, very poor in game prep and having team ready! however he brings in talent. best hope playoffs and a win.
must remain unbeaten 6-0 to have a shot at playoffs

He has power, resources, and a dedication to this program no one else has or will have. Does he stink as a coach? You’re **** right he does. But he is a **** good program builder top to bottom that can identify, evaluate, and develop talent which has significantly raised the floor of this program.

He will never get over the hump. That is a fact. But he can consistently win 9 or 10 games which is very important to make this program attractive/desirable for not only the ever changing college landscape but also the next coach (whenever that may be)

I will never argue with anyone that says if you gave X coach this type of power and resources they could win more than Mario. But it is extremely unlikely that any coach will ever have the power Mario has so there is context to all of this
correct, he will leave after 8 years to do something else for Miami and if we make the right choice he will win and win big cupboard will be well stocked

Mario is literally 15-5 his last 20 games. Any talk of a buyout is beyond dumb. The market has shifted and is about to shift again. Honestly if Rio wins double digits again this year y’all gonna melt when he gets a raise (which is happening)
