Fan support for Cristobal?

I agree with your analysis. It however is very depressing as you have us at a ceiling with Mario that goes no higher. Is 10 years of 9-11 wins better than 10 years of chaos but 3-4 years of playoffs and a championship or two worth more? I would have to vote chaos as a diehard Cane fan because 1 Championship is the promised land. If Chaos can get us 1 Championship I’ll go Chaos.
I just think Mario is who he is at this point and can't help but lose a game or two each year he shouldn't. We're going to need the stars to align perfectly for us with Mario IMO.

I agree and would definitely sign up for the 10 years of chaos with a title because at the end of the day, titles is all that matters. Think like 2013-2023 Michigan in this scenario is one I would sign up for. Some ****** years, some above average years and a few elite years with a title.

Meanwhile, coaching darling Lane Kiffin lost to Florida last season as a 13.5-point favorite with a quarterback who has actually been better than Cam Ward has been in the pros by a mile.

Name me a coach outside of Kirby Smart without warts. There are none.

I’m not even that big a Mario fan. I wanted Kiffin and thought at the time that we made the wrong hire.

Been when you say he looked “clueless” in a three point game that we had a chance to win, you are just being lazy with the criticism.

NFL teams have a winning percentage of 12% when the QB throws 4 picks.
Moving the goal posts. No one said no coaches have warts. You said Mario deserves better. He does not. He burned through his fan equity. He has little to no answers live on game day, so when people say clueless, that is his feel for the game, HIS ability to adapt live, etc.

Since you brought up Lane. He would win 10 here. In fact, we were told MANY MANY MANY times that ANY COMPETENT COACH WOULD WIN 10 in the ACC at Miami.

So no, he does not deserve better in year 4 making the same or similar coaching mistakes he has made throughout his 10+ year head coaching career. He deserves accountability.

You know who "deserved better"? -- Richt. Richt deserved better, but we held him accountable for Jon Richt. I see no issue with those holding Mario accountable or questioning the coaching dynamic.

Keep winning because the players and supporters of the program deserve better.

What are our choices currently with all these openings now? We're kind of stuck with him at the moment and because he has technically "improved" the team on paper he will get more time. Majority of us knew what he was when he arrived and although we hoped for improvement on his end he hasn't lived up to the expectations. He needs to hold himself as accountable as he does these coaches and players.
To be honest who would you hire. Outside of the Ohio State coach, every other coach, has crash and burn also, with unexplained losses. Texas A.M. coach, seems solid also.

I think the missing piece in this is that chaos does not guarantee a title. Chaos more often than not sticks you right back where we've been the last 20 years, turning over coaches and hoping the next one is better.

IMO the best way to get a title is to consistently get within striking distance and hope the stars align. Mario has us within striking distance.

Show me a coach who doesn't lose a game he shouldn't?

Should Ryan Day have lost to Michigan last year?

And I'm not breaking your balls about this, I get your point and I agree with it. Mine is, every coach loses games. All of them. You're measured on wins and losses, that's literally it. Billy Napier just got fired for losing games. How many of them was he favored in this year? One? USF, I think, correct? So this year, he lost one game he "shouldn't" have. But that's not why he was fired. He was fired because he's losing too many games, period.

Mario has also shown he can win games he "shouldn't". We were a 3 point dog to ND this year, and won the game outright. But again, none of this matters. Did you win or lose? That's all that matters. He's won 15 and lost 3 in the last 2 seasons. We had the best season we've had in 20 years last year, but I think almost all of us will still say that it wasn't good enough, because we allocate resources like a Top 12 team, and we didn't make the Top 12 playoff. Not good enough. This year, we're 5-1 and ranked in the top 10 again.

Mario has had this team ranked in the top 10 for 19 weeks the past 2 years.
From 2006 to 2023, do you know how many weeks Miami was ranked in the Top 10 of the AP poll?

18.

I'll be the first to say last year wasn't good enough. If we don't make the playoffs again this year, I'll be the first to say it again. Nobody is crowning this dude because of what's been done to this point. We all want a lot more success than 10 win seasons with no postseason excitement. But let's also have some perspective here. Who does this place suck off more than Dan Lanning? Didn't he just lose at home to a bunch of 3-stars? Who was favored in that game? Hmm, sounds like he lost one he shouldn't have. Once the CIS jaws are rested after polishing Lanning, who's the next one we fight to fawn over? Lane Kiffin. Lane Kiffin lost to the ******* Gators last year. He lost, at home, to Kentucky, as a 15.5 point favorite. I've got a couple screws loose, but that sure seems to me like a game he should've won.

We're 5-1, ranked #9, with 6 games left. Let's see how they go before we make definitive conclusions about things, either way.

Kentucky at Ole Miss (-15.5) >> Kentucky 20 Ole Miss 17
Ole Miss (-13.5) at Florida >> Florida 24 Ole Miss 17

Just to keep things honest around here.

Mario is losing to Teams that he's been a double digit favorite to win
Some other coaches that have lost to teams they were a double digit favorite to win since last season:

Ryan Day (title winner)
Marcus Freeman (title runner up)
Kalen Deboer (FOUR TIMES)
Josh Heupel
Lane Kiffin

Kirby lost by 18 as a favorite.
Elko lost by 24 as a favorite.
Lanning lost by 10 as a favorite.

This is college football, not the NFL. No one avoids upsets. Except Curt Cignetti, from what I can tell.

These goofs don't watch college football. They see a Miami loss, and it must be because we have an idiot head coach, period.

Thread is not about Lane deserving support. If he dropped those games at Miami, he would deserve criticism. Deserves it for those losses.

lol
You actually compared Mario to head coaches who actually won playoff games and another coach that’s beating him 2 straight
