I just think Mario is who he is at this point and can't help but lose a game or two each year he shouldn't. We're going to need the stars to align perfectly for us with Mario IMO.
I agree and would definitely sign up for the 10 years of chaos with a title because at the end of the day, titles is all that matters. Think like 2013-2023 Michigan in this scenario is one I would sign up for. Some ****** years, some above average years and a few elite years with a title.
Show me a coach who doesn't lose a game he shouldn't?
Should Ryan Day have lost to Michigan last year?
And I'm not breaking your balls about this, I get your point and I agree with it. Mine is, every coach loses games. All of them. You're measured on wins and losses, that's literally it. Billy Napier just got fired for losing games. How many of them was he favored in this year? One? USF, I think, correct? So this year, he lost one game he "shouldn't" have. But that's not why he was fired. He was fired because he's losing too many games, period.
Mario has also shown he can win games he "shouldn't". We were a 3 point dog to ND this year, and won the game outright. But again, none of this matters. Did you win or lose? That's all that matters. He's won 15 and lost 3 in the last 2 seasons. We had the best season we've had in 20 years last year, but I think almost all of us will still say that it wasn't good enough, because we allocate resources like a Top 12 team, and we didn't make the Top 12 playoff. Not good enough. This year, we're 5-1 and ranked in the top 10 again.
Mario has had this team ranked in the top 10 for 19 weeks the past 2 years.
From 2006 to 2023, do you know how many weeks Miami was ranked in the Top 10 of the AP poll?
18.
I'll be the first to say last year wasn't good enough. If we don't make the playoffs again this year, I'll be the first to say it again. Nobody is crowning this dude because of what's been done to this point. We all want a lot more success than 10 win seasons with no postseason excitement. But let's also have some perspective here. Who does this place suck off more than Dan Lanning? Didn't he just lose at home to a bunch of 3-stars? Who was favored in that game? Hmm, sounds like he lost one he shouldn't have. Once the CIS jaws are rested after polishing Lanning, who's the next one we fight to fawn over? Lane Kiffin. Lane Kiffin lost to the ******* Gators last year. He lost, at home, to Kentucky, as a 15.5 point favorite. I've got a couple screws loose, but that sure seems to me like a game he should've won.
We're 5-1, ranked #9, with 6 games left. Let's see how they go before we make definitive conclusions about things, either way.
