Fall practice #4

Quick note on the RPO: If the offensive line fires out and run blocks but the quarterback pulls it back and throws, it's a designed RPO. That's the easiest way to tell if an RPO was called. The line always treats the play as a run. That's why you rarely see downfield passes out of the RPO. It's all slants and bubbles. If the O line starts run blocking and gets into the second level of the defense (like you do when you run block) the quarterback can no longer throw the ball or a penalty will occur. All RPO passes are short and quick to avoid getting penalized for an illegal lineman downfield.

Unfortunately bro everybody covering the Canes are spinning like a .38 special trying to push their own agendas with whichever QB they want to win the competition.

You can read from 4 different writers covering Fall camp & it'll be like, "Tate has struggled & he's the best, Jarren throws the best ball & been the most consistent but struggles with consistency, Perry has struggled & been the worst of the 3 & was the best today.."

Lol sh*t is mad annoying. That's why I'm just waiting until the scrimmages to see whoever Enos picks. The coaches are the only ones who are being objective, the writers/reporters are all clearly biased.
Exactly I'm here to watch the practice videos and to read the stupidity of some of the people here.

Another tibit to add, I went to Saturday’s closed practice and watched the oline drills in the IPF Scaife and Donaldson look legit and Zion Nelson looks physical and athletic. Hate to say this but Tommy Kennedy physically looks built like the pillsbury Doughboy and lacked any pop when hitting the sled.... hope the kid gets himself a nice masters degree from the U because he ain’t playing any meaningful snaps here

Brandon Allen went from 49% to 56% to 65.9% the last 2 under Enos. I trust him to make the QB better. Whomever that may be.
I'm of the opinion that accuracy can't be taught but when you're going from an offense that ran 4 verts 60% of the time, switching to a more controlled, west coast type of passing game can certainly make your accuracy numbers go up. We saw Jacory Harris go from a ~55% passer in three years under Mark Whipple to a ~65% passer in his senior year under Jedd Fisch. He didn't all of the sudden get more accurate, he was just not asked to throw as many low percentage passes. I am confident that whomever wins the QB job this year will be >60% under Enos.

Herbert?

One thing I’ll say is that Kosi isn’t slow. He lacks the killer instinct to pull the ball and go when he does run.

He’s still in pass first mode. But that kid could house a 50 yard TD. He’s not a burner or as dynamic a runner as Tate.... but Kosi has more running ability than a kid like Franks.

We don’t know about Jarren and we haven’t seen him run.

I agree but 20 MPH is elite speed though. That's the type of speed that defenses can't defend from the QB spot.

...the writers/reporters are all clearly biased.

...and if they’re not, they don’t know what they’re looking at. I don’t know for example if Barry has a QB preference, but I do know he can’t diagnose a throw or a QB in practice.

What anybody is saying about handicapping the QB race is ultimately meaningless to me.

We’re actually seeing about 1% of what those quarterbacks are doing. Like you said, it’s the coaches that have the full amount of information in front of them from which to evaluate these guys, and as you know, it’s their jobs on the line.

I could care less what kind of mood you're in and why would i take someone who doesn't know much about the game's word for it? Why because it's your hobby? My hobby is fishing that doesn't make me a fishing guide.

Keep thinking a presnap check is the same as an RPO. Keep thinking that a sight adjustment or throwing hot is an RPO. Keep thinking that because two choices are called in a huddle and decided based on alignment and numbers is an RPO.

I may not be totally right here, but you thinking that you are is just laughable....hey counter alert
Sounds like a hater to me...

Very much so! Sad thing is, most of them don't know what the **** they're looking at other than the obvious. Cometh was the best qb in the Spring for a reason. Now he can't play. Crazy sh##

I dont break my head over this **** unless its obvious someone is better then the guy starting the previous year. They will start who they start, I just want to smash UF thats it

What elite traits has he flashed in college? I’m not hating, I’m curious. I’m one of those lame folk who doesn’t care who QB1 is as long as it’s Enos’ choice.

And please don’t mention high school, we’ve had plenty of guys who flashed “elite” qualities in high school.
You sure about that. Seems like you mention Jarren quite a bit...

They also got the film wide and tight cuts and know the concepts and the progressions so a QB may have made a throw but it was the wrong read, or missed a throw and it was the right read. We don’t know and people watching don’t either. I’m just ready for 8/24

Because he's been a hot name and I've always liked his potential. But believe me, don't care in the slightest. I was at the spring game and everything to see for myself, came away more indifferent than ever lol

Zion is not physically ready yet. He’s just not strong enough but does have the best feet on the team.

Kennedy is such a bizarre case. It’s almost as if no one ever watched his film or met him. He’s been on campus for months and still looks and plays weak going against guys years younger than him.

What’s worse though is the guys behind him. If Kennedy is weak, soft, and not working on getting stronger/nastier how is he 2nd string today?
