Facility upgrades

Would a woke institution like UM have the gall to evict women's soccer in the name of moar football facilities? This would also displace track and field. Hope it happens just to see how bent out shape some people would get.
If by "evict" you mean "build a better facility for," then yes. Rising tide; a better football program benefits everyone. They're not just going to throw soccer and track to the curb without a plan. Other than the optics, it'd be highly against Title IX without having another women's sport in place. If you're Amy Deem (our highly esteemed track coach), as long as it's not relocated really far away, do you care as long as you are moved to a better facility, which is better for your recruiting overall?

The “facilities don’t matter bro” crowd was always utterly ridiculous. Yes it does especially when the big programs who win have the elite amenities for their players meanwhile miami got lockerrooms that look worse than alot of group of 5 teams and even some high schools lol

Except our locker rooms are exactly the same now. Of course those will be changed with an upgrade, they always are when facilities are being upgraded.

In modern college football, it’s all important. The teams you’re shooting for have all of that, not either or.

Yep, the NCAA is on life support at this point because of NIL and transfer portal, especially in football with their championship already being handled outside of it.

Eventually it will separate into the haves and have nots, likely with the next TV deals coming up in a few years. If we want to be in with the big boys when that happens we got to pony up everywhere.

But but but but we should have went after lane…….
I ain’t gonna lie, I was planted firm in the Lane camp cause, 1). I felt that he could lead a quick turnaround and we could get him for less, and 2). I thought there was no way in ****, that our BOT would sign off on everything that Mario wanted…. including salary. We’re cheapskates, remember? When I learned that the BOT…. OUR BOT, were going all in for Mario and guaranteeing changes to the infrastructure, including salary for him, staff, and money for facilities… I knew then that **** was way different, now. Mario was the only coach that they would acquiesce that kind of power to. So I quickly jumped to the front of the bus for Team Mario.

It’ll be great when we can stop hearing about Lane and Manny.

Lane is a good offensive coach. Not unreasonable to want that.

It’s the total package of Mario, Rad and never before seen financial commitment that is catapulting things forward for us.

I just hope we aren’t missing the big picture again like we have the last 20 years. Facilities were big when that was a differentiator for kids because all things considered they weren’t getting paid. Now with NIL, how important are facilities when one school is paying you twice as much in NIL? It’s akin to the NFL. You never hear a free agent talking about a teams facilities. I am all for top of the line facilities, but we need to be smart with our spending and maximize for the future state of college football.

Sure. We finally have a legit staff and AD. We are severely lacking in every other avenue. Time to do it big and represent

Literally just talking about this at work.
Problem is that the nil schools also have nice facilities.
Tamu has had several upgrades the last few years.
The approach has to be from the top all the way down. It’s not just bags and nil.
This recruiting thing is all encompassing. There is communication with high school kids from former players and even active nfl players. These kids talk to each other. A player considering a school talks to players actively in the team.
These kids are comparing everything and taking everything into account.
Even a transfer like Agude was talking to JP and Roche.
Mario and Rad know they’re gonna have to bring it if they want to go against these schools.

The Covid-19 pandemic clearly illustrated how most of the other collegiate athletic programs r financially draining, no revenue is coming in. Typically CFB & CBB programs r carrying the financial support for other non-profiting scholarship programs.

Like I said w/o any first hand knowledge, but just thinking about the expansion of our facilities & what area would be affected, I’m 99.1% sure our AD will have us w/ a state of the art multiplex athletic facility that will primarily be for our football team, but will also be University of Miami Athletics friendly.

I love this, but let me play Eeyore for a minute.

Where would the soccer field and track go?

Nowadays, there is more focus and scrutiny as to the disparity between male/female sports, as well as the expenditures of the bigger ticket sports compared to the lesser ones. Presumably, this would still have to be sold to the administration and higher-ups; we all assume that Mario has been promised a lot, but this is the very same administration from not too long ago and we know where that got us. Some will raise these concerns; and while this is not the most receptive place for these concerns, they are legitimate concerns for a university whose focus isn't football but the university as a whole.
Male and female sports? Are you a biologist or something?
