Facility upgrades

I’m getting nightmares about these genuine wagyu Kobe filet mignons being well cooked all the way through. Stop it.

I was told today that the TOTAL budget for the football facility would be up to 150 million:oops::oops: Rad looking to spend an additional 50-60 mil on basketball upgrades. We break ground on locker room upgrades Monday and the plan is to break ground on the new football facility in the Spring of 23.

Break ground Monday and they haven’t announced anything? Do you think he will this weekend with a rendering or something?

Saban who wins more than anyone understand the importance of facilities, so does kirby and Dan radokovich who was at clemson which is why they constantly upgrade them frequently. It’s not the 80s anymore, if you want the top athletes you better believe they going to want the top amenities as well. Goes without saying pretty much
Actually that's not at all why Saban who you quoted constantly upgrades them. He upgrades them because he understands the nature of the people he's appealing to. You and people like you who sweat these YouTube videos. Its how he communicated with his boosters essentially. That's who he is trying to appease. NOT THE RECRUITS. Because at a certain point we all only spend so much time in locker rooms. The amenities that matter to us is other facilities like lounges, weight room, mess hall, recovery rooms etc. But as long as you show donors there money being put to work they'll keep it coming.

My point exactly. I get what he's saying when he says they're outdated only because I know the context he's using is a comparison throughout the country. If that is the only measurable than I have no issue. But regardless they aren't ****** and even calling them outdated without the context being applied isn't accurate. They are basic because it's simply a locker room with a few lil amenities added. It's not the players lounge or any of that. My only comparison for them and why I take issue is because of the state of our facilities when I played. It's a huge upgrade from that. Also I'm pretty sure we did have an upgrade in 16 or 17 because I remember showing my nephew them while it was being done.

Agreed completely. Even when I was at UM in the 80s and 90s, there were always minor improvements here and there. Maybe not the type of stuff that you do one of those "players holding their mouths and screaming" reaction videos about, but still.

And, yes, I was referring to the "big" upgrade in 2013 that Dwayne and Dany paid for, but we still do tweaks every so often. People actiing like sofas and chairs last 10 years, or that paint never chips. And, hey, maybe we do still have plasma TVs instead of QLED, but come on now, it's not like we have to train like Rocky Balboa in the USSR or some ****e.

Folks need to understand what we are talking about here. It's not "breaking ground" like it's a whole new building. There may be some changes to ceilings and walls, and keep in mind why that is...because we are likely tearing down a lot of adjacent stuff. So we might need to reorient stuff around the locker rooms to match up to what will be built (rebuilt) later in the larger Hecht project.

But the fact that lockers are getting done NOW and Hecht is getting done NEXT YEAR should give you an idea that we are not going to dump 5-10 mil into locker rooms that have to be torn down in a year.

In a way, I'm glad that there is no pomp-and-circumstance associated with the locker room project (YET). Let's save our celebration for the grand reopening, not the groundbreaking.

Frenk and his people better be putting this kind of effort into the academic buildings as well. I love what Rad and Mario are doing, but Frenk and his people haven't done anything for infrastructure for the rest of the student body in a while. Building new dorms is flashy, but the Cox Science Building is still a dark, dank dump with the same broken restrooms that were there when I was in undergrad back in 2009.

We should be building hardcore across the board, Rad is leading the charge and I hope the powers that be are heeding the call for all.
when was the last time you were on campus?

A man who knows how a steak should be cooked. I asked for my steak Pittsburged and the little young *** white boy replied with a sarcastic smile, "I was asking how you wanted your steak prepared?". Bought me a meat slicer and cut my prime rib eyes and cook them myself. ***** steak houses, for the price of one steak dinner I can get 8 prime steaks. Baked potato just throw it on the oven racks uncovered.

Prices are insane right now.
6 oz prime fillet at a steak house down here start at 60$.
I can get the while loin at Costco.
Lump charcoal at 900 degrees and have lunch or dinner like a **** steel worker from the 30’s.
Get the whole **** prime rib roast too at the butcher.

The Rocky IV reference cracked me up. All we need is for our S&C coach to take them to a barn and have them do situps while yelling "No Pain!"

That aside, I do remember Randy Shannon saying after he became coach that the couches in the Hecht were the same couches that were there when he played.

I know that some people will accuse me of being repetitive here, but the terrible condition of the administrative portion of the Hecht...cannot be underestimated.

There are some spots that have benefited from "name" donations, like player meeting rooms.

But the rest of the building devoted to administrative offices, etc? BASURA.
