Everyone, Gather 'Round, Come And Reminisce

So people defend golden with all their might, but can't explain why they do so? All we are asking for is an explanation. I don't give a **** if the school gives him another year because of the cloud thats bull**** because he had a 5 year jump in head coaching experience and recruited well enough to win more than he has.

My question is,

Why do you defend Al Golden when he has essentially the same exact record as Randy Shannon but never offered Randy the same courtesy?

Stop trying to make this ****: Al Golden defenders vs. Fire His ***.

There is a lot of **** that has to be considered when firing a coach. It's not an easy process. There are contracts involved, a lot of money, recruits, etc. Sometimes, waiting another year is better than making a change. Sometimes its not.

I am not defending Golden. I want him fired, but I am not going to stoop to lows and bring up race and a **** load of speculation. I also understand that there is a lot of other things that go on behind the scenes.

It can't be as difficult as you make out - I mean, without showing a damned thing - Golden was magically given a generous extension. Doesn't that involve lots of money, contracts, and siht like that?

So we can throw the money aspect out. If money meant a damned thing to the Admin - they sure as Hades wouldn't have given such an extension - unless the money aspect meant nothing.

Contracts in this particular instance mean nothing, as the extension was another contractual matter - so no big deal.

The ONLY criteria to be examined in firing anyone - anywhere - is "Are they performing?" Nope. Fire them.

Golden isn't performing. Golden is right where we were when he got here. No real progress, and to make it worse, this year the Coastal is as weak as it's ever been since creation. And so was FSU. FSU is having a down year - but fortunately for them - everyone else is too.

This year was Golden's big chance to shine.

He chokes. He plays afraid. He puts the brakes on when ahead. He can't finish a decent game.

He's been weighed, tested, and measured. And after four years, found wanting.

Their overall records here - FACTS
Their record through 10 games in their 4th seasons - FACTS
Their strength of schedule - FACTS
The fans reaction to both - FACTS

Again, anyone on Canestime/Canesport/Shadow's board etc at the time will agree, the attitude towards the head coaches were polar opposites despite the similar situations.

If this makes you uncomfortable, embarrassed, or angry, blame yourself. Or the fan base.

FSU is having a down year?

Contracts do mean something. We have money at the U, but we never throw it around.

Is he performing? Not really, but the excuse of the sanctions is the only reason why he is still employed. He must have really helped out our program during this time period in a lot of ways off the field. To get rid of him, you have to weigh the cost of keeping him and his contract vs. cost of firing him and hiring someone new.

So being clean-cut, wearing a tie, speaking well with the NCAA, being a "good face for the program" and a "good CEO," aren't actual things people use to defend him?

Because his actual coaching career here has pretty much mirrored Randy Shannons. ^^ Those "positives" are just a polite way of saying "at least he isn't a black idiot."

I don't defend AG. But in my opinion I believe the defenders view it as different circumstances. AG proved that he can turn a team around at Temple, which should provide him a little more time than somebody unproven. Plus he stuck with Miami during the investigation during a time when he was considered a hot name. Shannon didn't have the same obstacles that AG had to overcome. So you can't really just look at records when comparing the two.

One of the biggest smoke jobs out there. Actually dig deep into what he did at Temple. All smoke and mirrors.

Please explain the FACTS.

All I read was record comparisons and then a **** load of speculation.

I believe the question is still on the floor, what has AG done to keep his job? If it's not about race as some say, why isn't he held to the same standard?

Record comparisons are FACTS! The same way these FACTS are now being used against Golden, would be the same way these very same FACTS would be used by you and other supporters to say why he's doing a great job if we were now sitting at 8-2 or 9-1. There is nothing this staff has done other than not leave for another job during the "scandal" that Randy did not. At least Randy made honest attempts to fix week spots.

It's not rugby bro. Learn your sports. The guy in the photo may be the best athlete on Earth.

I understand the point. But I am in reality and he is getting another year unless he ***** the bed from here out. People bring up race too often when they can't understand why things happen. There is way too much speculation with that accusation. This is just a different situation than Randy. Sanctions, scandals, scholarship reductions, and what not. He is getting a pass for that reason.

If I was running the show, he would have already had his bags packed.
Then what's been said doesn't apply to you.

Kendallcanes:

I'm glad you want him fired. Most reasonable people do.

But that's not the argument here. So my question is, why is the administration not looking to fire him? He's identical to Randy in performance, yet is given ten times the slack. WHY???

Ask them. Who said they aren't looking to fire him. Everyone is on the hot seat every year in college football.

But I think using Race is a low ball move. I don't think the school deserves that.

They gave Randy Shannon, a black man, his first Head coaching position. The university is one of the most diverse in the country. The city of Miami is culturally and ethnically diverse. Diversity is our strong point on and off the field.

There were actually fans who said "finally we have a coach who can put two sentences together." They saw Randy as an embarassment because he wasn't, in their opinion, "polished" the way Golden is.

I agree....but that in comparison to nothing pretty much wins out. So I don't think him and Shannon's resume compare. But I still feel just like Shannon, he might not be the answer. But we won't really find out until next season.

HOLY ****. No he wasn't. I remember 90% of the people on these boards asking who the **** he was when he was signed. IF he was a "hot" name it was only because he was being considered for the Miami job. What you're saying is that we lucked out by getting him. LULZZZ

SMH, now a coRch from Temple makes Miami instead of the other way around.

I would love to ask them, but that troll doesn't take to having her motives questioned. Believe me, I discussed the sad state of our team in 2007 with her and she tightened up like a clam.

This program has distanced itself from it's history and the local community. They used to embrace it. Why? Bc Miami leaders are desperate to be seen as some elite wasp school.
