Saban, Bellichek, Meyer - a lot of coaches are dlcks to the media, and our current coach that throws players under the bus must be a real locker room favorite.

Didn't have to deal with the Shapiro situation

Nobody talked about it more than him. He parlayed it into a raise. 1 recruit said it impacted their decision. No reductions were even handed out until this year.

and didn't have to deal with the former coach just flat out quitting recruiting in the final year (like he did).

The season before he took over, Miami had to play a punter at WR because of how little depth they had. He was handed the 14th ranked recruiting class, not a bluechip filled monster class.

The sad truth remains: they are the same exact coach. One of them was unanimously hated and called to be fired. The other is heralded as a hero. Keep hiding your head in the sand or accept the truth, your choice.

Like I said I wasnt around here when Shannon was the coach, but I do know there were a lot of Shannon supporters. I remember on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Fannation etc Miami fans were supporting Shannon. I would say the same percentage of Shannon supporters and non supporters are about the same as to Goldens. You need to stop trolling people, you're a big name poster on here and your swaying the lesser minds with the whole race thing.

Like you said, you weren't around. It was a lynch mob on every Miami message board. You had a small faction of "he's not the one out there missing tackles" morons like you do now, but it was overwhelming the amount of vitriol and hate he received.

The larger part of the fans wanted him out at 7-3. After his 4th loss, that was it. It was all but unanimous.

I'm not trolling, I'm dead *** serious. To see the contrasting attitudes towards the coaches despite the comparable situations is alarming.

But I was on other social media and I doubt all Cane fans stuck to this site to talk Canes football. I would bet anything that the same percentage of support/hate Shannon is the same for Golden, maybe Golden has some more support than Shannon but that's more due to recruiting. You cant sit here and tell me you arent excited about the players that are committed, where Shannon had how many players give their pledge?
Also, as for as the insulting memes the same percentage of people that have made derogatory memes about Shannon have made them for Golden. Do I really have to go and find all the memes or post the insinuate that Golden and D'nofrio have "relations" or insulted their intelligence?

I can only compare their records up to this exact point, Beef Stew, as I do not have a crystal ball. Saying "he finished 7-6" is irrelevant for this conversation.

I can also only compare their performances through 10 games, and the reactions of the fan base to those performances. These are all facts. If it makes you uncomfortable, sometimes that's what happens when a mirror is held up.



As far as trends, I only can tell you this..

Average margin of defeat through 10 games in Shannon's 4th season: 14 points
Average margin of defeat through 10 games in Golden's 4th season: 11 points

Average margin of victory through those 10 games for Shannon: 20 points
Average margin of victory through those 10 games for Golden: 22 points



The similarities are startling. Well, except for the fans' reaction.

In 2010 they were constructing a noose, in 2014 they're building a statute.

I think you are REALLY overstating the fan reaction to the FSU loss. But hey, whatever fits the agenda!

One other thing that I have notice is that this website has split. My understanding is Caneinsight came first and then a off topic website was established. After posting for some time now it looks like a lot of the people that do not support Golden have gone to the WEZ and the ones that supports Golden stayed on here. So that 99% can be misleading. I guarantee you if you go to the WEZ and ask how many people want Golden to get fire you'll get a different response on here....a very different response lol.
But this isnt a race thing. I would say a fan base is comprised of two groups of fans (really 4, but lets focus on the big 2): one part of a fan base will always support the coach and see what the team can do. The other will always be negative and see what they can't do. Those two are the glass half full/empty part of a fan base.

Bottom line if you do not win you get fired. Nobody gives a **** about color unless you are a racist. It has been over a decade since our team was any good.

If Randy would have won he would still be here. I think everybody was pulling for Randy since he was from Miami and played at UM. A lot of great former and current players where from the same type neighborhoods and area as Randy. It would have be great to see Randy succeed.

Larry Coker got FIRED and he won a NC and lost in over time for another. His worst and last season was 7-6. Before that 12-0 NC, 12-1 Lost over time NC, 11-2, 9-3, 9-3.

Shannon's first year was the worst record at UM since the 70s at 5-7. We all know he was the defensive coordinator since 2001. If he was any good he should have done better since he got bumped up. He drove the team into the ground and let all the Shapiro BS happen on his watch. Recruiting sucked after one hyped up year with the NW kids. Most NW kids bailed on Golden their junior years.

Golden at least has recruited better and started with way less than Randy far from those champion years. Golden is just not good enough to coach at UM and has lost to many south Florida recruits. If he was any good he would have had a better record. No excuses. Should be fired just for the Penn St. bull**** along with another sub par season losing to Neb, Lou and GT. No way a real Miami team loses to those teams. All comes down to the administration Shalala has been a disaster for this team.

But the entire point is bolded. If that was the case, why isnt Golden getting fired? He hasn't won, and has been just as ineffective as the guy they fired for him.

The point isn' that Randy shouldn't have been fired; that dude was a horror HC.

The point is that Al should be held to the same standard Randy was, and since he isn't, it seems to me the only reason is bc he is white.

Randy was atrocious and fired deservingly. Al Golden has performed identically as Randy, and yet won't be fired. I just find that very coincidental, coming from an administration that clearly has an elitist, waspy attitude towards the local community over the last decade.

He loses one more game this year, he should be gone. No matter what. Shannon should have been fired. Golden should be fired. No excuses. They produce the same results.
