Evan Shirreffs!

Shirreffs was not recruited by Georgia. Was way under the radar until his senior year and really shined in the Georgia All Star game. That game got him his offer from Miami. He comes from a football family and had to adjust to his grow spurt. He came out of high school tall and skinny as a rail. Solid gUYsm to have on the roster. I be from the south of Georgia and we ain't surprised he is doing well. There is some good high school football here. Saban, Kelly, and Urban been around this past recruiting cycle.

Evan has an older brother who played with him? Am i wrong?

Tried to tell yall he didnt come here to be a backup...

- Of redshirt freshman Evan Shirreffs, Jon Richt said, "Evan is doing a great job, is paying attention to detail. He's doing a really nice job right now. Everything we're asking him to do, he's doing."

Mark Richt added of Shirreffs that "He's very conscientious. When we came back from spring break he probably had the best footwork of all the QB's - it's because of the work he put in over break.

"He's a good student whether it's school or football, takes good notes. And I can see him trying to do what I'm asking him to do. You see guys making up their own stuff, I promise you they'll never play for me. ... Evan is creating a lot of good habits."

Takes good notes, is conscientious, creating good habits....Nice words but pretty tame praise.

Have the Richts talked about their familiarity with Shirreffs back when he was in high school in GA? I wonder if they recruited him.

His only other offers were Georgetown, Old Dominion and Eastern Michigan. Very under the radar recruit. Even if he didnt miss his junior year with injury, its hard to get recognition when playing in south Georgia.

Evan played at Jefferson HS in Jefferson, GA which is about 3 counties south of the Tennessee line. That is nowhere near South Georgia, not that it matters just stating the fact. He was very close to Athens, GA.

So you just disregarded the fact that the head coach said he worked his *** off and now has the best footwork on the team. Not sure where you get "tame" from.

Jon Richt said Kaaya has separated himself so at this point the battle is for 2.

Of course a star QB with two years experience has separated himself. He'd done that before Richt got on campus. I'm just glad we have a real competition for the 2 spot. Also, while every coach wants to say "every job is open", it just isn't true. Even if a guy outplayed Kaaya by a little in the spring and fall, unless Kaaya was being a complete fool and being punished he would not be passed on the depth chart.

His brother plays QB at UConn. Big strong run-first QB who throws a football like he's trying to flick a booger off his hand.

I was floored when I saw Shirreff's tape. How does a guy throw like that, play action like that, move around in the pocket like that, and be a total student of the game and not get better offers? Oh, and he's 6'5"... For the life of me, I just don't get it. His PA passes looked like a pro for crying out loud.
Said it last year....He looks every bit as good as Kaaya coming out of high school...I believe we'll find Allison riding the pine behind The Shirreff..

Thanks Franchise, I seen his brother play, just didnt realize Evan was his younger brother.
Thanks again

I would love to have every QB capable of starting and being a star at that. Competition is what makes big time programs great. I thinkl Sheriffs takes the job after Kaaya.

Didn't know Georgetown did football.
They play at the FCS level. They actually wanted Allen Iverson to play quarterback while he was there.

Guy looked pretty good against Duke. I'd trust him this year if Kaaya went down (knock on wood)
Pretty sure that was Rosier who played against Duke. He did have a solid game though.

He is not from south GA. He is from right outside Athens.

How can you be a Canes fan and not know it was Rosier who was the QB against Duke. Barring a catastrophic and penetrating head trauma, how can anyone not know that

I would have loved to see that. I(and many others) still think Bubba Chuck would've been a better football player than bball and thats ridiculous.

I'll be shocked if this kid ever takes a snap as a starter here.

Fvck it. State your opinion.

Sounds like the type of praise you hear for a good backup / spot starter. Probably the type of praise they had for Faton Bauta at Georgia.
