Evan Shirreffs Commits to UM

Watching the tape there he has really nice ball placement. I mean like over the linebackers shoulder in front of the safety, and while he's mobile he's more accurate than most. It's a really quick release on his throw but the one thing I noticed on a few throws is that on some of the deep balls he seems to change shoulder slots. If you're unsure what it means, it means that in stead of over the shoulder like on most of his throws he moved to a 3/4 slot.

no. we want to look at his offer sheet and judge him based on that and only that. ***** tape of his game or any rational thought.

Well that's rational thought. Just giving my two cents about him, although I am curious as to why more schools didn't show interest in him.

Lets be honest here.. this kids film is LEGIT.. seriously LEGIT... What you're looking for in a qb is can he make all the throws and can he do it from all the styles.. On his film, he's making the short, intermediate and deep throws, and he's giving you shotgun throws, under the center throws, roll out throws, play action throws, screens, and double moves...

I like the pick up... His film goes pound for pound with any PP QB in the southeast... ***** the stars... if you don't camp or come on late in your high school career, trust me, RIVALS, ESPN, 24/7, nor SCOUT know a thing about you...

Everyone that is bashing the kid.. put aside his rating and watch his film, the kid is good.

Not only that but if he can get a red shirt year in to fill out his frame he has the potential to be a starter after Kaaya. i could definitely see him battling with Allison in about 3 years. He has good projectability being tall, smart, and raw.

Yep the kid is a baller who didn't have the love due to injuries and whatnot. He has just as much talent as someone like Ryan Williams and is a better option then the guys we have right now IMO. No bigtime guy was coming here this year . Allison will next year because he will only have to sit behind Kaaya for 1 year before he goes pro and that aint no thang. And anyone who bashes this just doesn't get it . We are in this position so *****ing about it does no good .

i was being sarcastic about half the posts in the thread lol

I'm glad to have him.

I like this kid. I'm happy he's joining. Probably better than 247 makes it seem. Besides, Allison will probably decommit anyway given what we've just seen.

I was at the U when Ken Dorsey first starterd and people were crapping all over him. You just never know.

Putting aside the coaches and the ghost of Daniel Stegall, I actually like this kid.

Curious what others think of his ability. My quick trigger thoughts:

- Elite size and surprisingly coordinated for someone who just had a growth spurt. His brother is a D-1 Wildcat QB, so there is athleticism in the family

- Strong arm. My initial impression is that he has more pure arm strength than Kaaya and Rosier. His accuracy looks very good as well, but these are highlights

- Poor competition

- Can't tell anything about his mental game -- never has to move past the first read

Hard to see what kind of player he is with the bullets flying, but I like his tools. His production and off-field character appear excellent, and there are genuine reasons why he slipped under the radar (sat behind D-1 brother until junior year, got hurt, small school). Worth the offer if only for depth purposes.

DMoney, I will say this a big thing to me was that even when things broke down around him in the pocket and he escaped he never hesitated to make a decision and go with it in that video either. He always seemed to know where the LOS was and where his receivers were. On the mental side that's something that is a big plus for him.

You summarized how most of the porsters here view HS players. Well done. (see your sarcasm by the way)

Best case scenario considering we didn't have a QB fax in a LOI yesterday. God forbid Golden tries to pull another Jake Heaps this offseason.

Yep I'm well aware. Hence my rational thought comment.

Worth bringing in. Quality kid, bright, under the radar and film looks decent. And for all the haters, believe he was MVP of some Florida-Georgia all-star game.

The hatred some of you have toward Golden has spilled over to the young men that have signed with UM. It's just not right. Give the respect to these young men for wanting to be a part of the tradition.

Enough already about *****ing everything that Golden does. We all get it. He sucks. Leave the kids out of it!

Welcome Evan Shirreffs!

Holy SH*T. That's ****ing huge. This kid actually looks pretty decent. Smart as **** too. Ideal back up type kid for Kaaya. This is a very positive development if true.

Landing a kid with a grand total of two offers from Columbia and VMI qualifies as f***ing huge nowadays?

Unbelievable how far we've fallen...
Aaron rodgers had NO offers

Johnny Manziels mom pleaded with colleges to just LOOK at her sons tape ...coley has an excellent eye for quarterbacks so I have no doubt this at this very least a solid back up quarterback

Exactly. This kid has a lot of "diamond in the rough" potential. We don't see much of this anymore at all. But there are some legit reasons why he seems to have fallen through the cracks. Kid is smart as **** though, and has great measurables.

I mean WHY NOT? Seriously. F*Ck. What else do we have to lose at this point?

HOW MANY DANG DIAMOND IN THE ROUGHS ARE WE GOING TO GET???!!! Do you know how sick and tired I am being sold on diamonds in the rough w/ this staff? He (Golden) just talked about the whole "cloud" affecting scholarships, but we're giving them to JAGs?? Come on, man. Make up your mind, Golden.
