Evan Shirreffs Commits to UM

Another wasted scholly, would rather have seen trayone gray move to qb and save that offer for another 2016 recruit

Why? Are we going to sign THREE QBs in 2016?

We need a kid who will be ok as a back up Qb. Kaaya looks to be the man for next year. But we have NOTHING behind him. We need some balance on the roster. Signing 3 QBs is idiotic and no one does that. Two is the max for 16, we NEEDED a body at QB this year. And since we have NO other options, a kid who could be a viable back up, isn't such a bad thing.

Seems smart. Kaaya showed us what a difference brains can make if applied. At this point what can we expect,

From Lawson the stud to this nobody. Smh.

We edged out Columbia and VMI, though, so I guess Lemming was right, Golden is a great recruiter.

Again, the options were holding our d*cks and Gray Crow if Kaaya goes down. Lawson ship sailed. We are f*cked until Golden gets bought out. We NEEDED someone backing up Kaaya. This kid actually looks like he has some potential.

Not like we had many other options at this point.

You seem to be missing the point.

We shouldn't BE in this situation. Your fat girlfriend Al Golden is the reason this nobody got a scholarship.

This kid is a wasted scholarship being brought in because of Golden's failures.

That isn't something to celebrate.

No, YOU keep missing the point. Everyone is PAINFULLY aware of the situation we are in. But the REALITY is that we are stuck with Golden for at least one more season. And this program is going to NEED players, bodies, on the roster, for WHOEVER replaces Golden. A new HC cant do jack ****, if he inherits a roster with NOTHING on it. If God forbid something happens to Kaaya, this team goes off a cliff. And we cant sign 3 QBs in 16. So getting SOMETHING on board, considering we had no other options, is a positive thing.

We are in a bad place right now. But this program will never rebound if it cant keep some blood flowing into it. Giant holes in the roster is what Coker and Shannon allowed and was one of the primary catalysts for our initial decline.

You think the new coach wants a scholarship wasted a QB that only had offers from DeVry and University of Phoenix?

Guess what, if Kaaya goes down we go from a 6-win team to a 3-win team anyway. Rosier, this kid - doesn't matter, they all suck.

It's a waste of a scholarship. If you can't land a QB just eat it. Next coach is saddled with this bum now.

Big kid who appears poised. Not the strongest arm but doesn't turn the ball over…only 4 ints in his high school career. In regards to mobility, he looks like Michael Vick when compared to Kaaya. He is no scrub at all and will be more than a serviceable back-up for us. Very good late pick up.

Golden and C4L have something in common

We've been in this situation before. Several times, including during our best years.

Better option than Crow!!! Besides, we had one kid turn us away because of Kayaa. All in all, a decent get. Wish we could've held Lawson or gotten Gibson to come, but with this staph....we just better be glad to get as good as we can get, until changes are made at the top!

"Just eat what"? We DONT HAVE any **** QBs. If Crow was even remotely serviceable they would not have offered this kid. We CANT take 3 QBs in 16. We needed a body for depth and as a potential back up. There is NOTHING else out there. Kid has decent measurable and is smart as ****. Kind of kid that could grow into a competent back up QB.

Did I miss something, isn't Rosier the back up? Why is everyone talking like Crow is next man up?

Putting aside the coaches and the ghost of Daniel Stegall, I actually like this kid.

Curious what others think of his ability. My quick trigger thoughts:

- Elite size and surprisingly coordinated for someone who just had a growth spurt. His brother is a D-1 Wildcat QB, so there is athleticism in the family

- Strong arm. My initial impression is that he has more pure arm strength than Kaaya and Rosier. His accuracy looks very good as well, but these are highlights

- Poor competition

- Can't tell anything about his mental game -- never has to move past the first read

Hard to see what kind of player he is with the bullets flying, but I like his tools. His production and off-field character appear excellent, and there are genuine reasons why he slipped under the radar (sat behind D-1 brother until junior year, got hurt, small school). Worth the offer if only for depth purposes.

We need at least two highly-rated QBs with future starter potential in 2016. Allison on his own won't be enough because of how atrociously this staff has recruited QBs in 3 out of 4 years, excluding Kaaya & maybe Rosier in the 2014 class. Adding 3 QBs is exactly what FSU intended to do until Locksley flipped to Texas in the final week this past cycle. Stacking chips is necessary, especially at the most important position on the field.

Adding this kid doesn't solve anything.

You cant always keep using the "next year" excuse. Eventually you end up having to play your punter as a WR. Sometimes you just need to find a guy who may be able to fill a role on your roster. This kid has all the makings of a Coal Shoveler type. But That may be all we need backing up Kaaya and keeping things warm for Allison.

I really like this kid too, Kaaya is the man, but we always need depth at QB.
