ESPN too early 2022 Top 25 Miami starts.....

I agree with the acc, heck, should've won it this year. I think at a minimum we should be in the championship game for the ACC.
Everyone had expectations of 10-2 last year. We should have won the Coastal and our 1st ACC title. The team underperformed. I make my expectations based on the talent I see. I don't give into the team dropping games they shouldn't. That happens, but my expectations don't change.

As painful as 7-5 was, it had to happen to get Mario and for the Admin to go all in with football.

The team has no holes on offense IMO and some ok depth. Special teams should also be good. The defense obviously has some real question marks. On paper this is our best team in many years solely because the offense is the best on paper in 15 years. Can they prop up the defense to compete at a high level? That is the question.
An OL that could not get enough push to pick up a needed yard on numerous occasions and we have no holes?

Until we get some above average LB production, I expect us to have to win offensive shootouts

The fact is 2022 is a new season and the team should be much better than last year with more experienced players, better coaching, and a culture change.

I could care less about your history lesson of us in the ACC. Everyone knows it by heart. The team needs to perform to its talent level. Doing less than that is unacceptable and that's why Diaz was fired. You can have low expectations if you want to. I'm not built that way.

Our QB is better than what TAMU and Clemson has. TVD is probably the best QB in the ACC for 2022 and one of the best in the country. As poorly as our team was at times especially on defense, it was a missed field goal, a goal line interception, and a 4th & 14 from being 8-0 in the ACC. The division is weak and 2022 will be even weaker. The team needs to handle its business. The excuses need to end.

I don't see either Clemson or TAMU as better than us. Clemson went 10-3 which could have easily been an 9-4 or 8-5 season. TAMU was 8-4.

My point is nether of those teams are unbeatable.

Frankly we should dominate the Coastal. We haven't, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't. That doesn't mean I or anyone else shouldn't have that expectation either. The expectation should match the talent. We have superior talent. It's up to the coaches to get all of that talent out of the players.
All of that's true. Except maybe the "I'm not built that way" part, I don't really know what that means. But none of it changes the fact that winning is harder than off-season CIS ever wants to acknowledge.

Again, look at this thread a year from now. I'll be very happy if I'm wrong.

This fan base needs to wake up and realize we’re a perennial 8-4 until proven otherwise. Everyone in the country understands this minus our own fans. This team has gaping holes all over the field. 9 wins would be a success in year 1. Especially if it’s the dreaded bowl win Miami has done twice in 20 years
Realistic take. The only thing that gives me optimism is that TVD has the markings of being a top 10 QB or simply player in all of CFB next year. He alone should keep us in every game.

Our linebackers are better than Manny and Patke made them look. Mario’s preparation (actually practicing tackling) will make us look a lot better.

We just need a couple solid guys to help at Mike from the portal. I know you hate Flagg, but he will get 80 tackles this year unless a portal guy takes his snaps. I expect Steed and TAC to breakout. Keontra will do his thing.

I think we will make a big jump at lb. My concern is edge rush and corner if we don’t improve the pass rush enough.

They return 10 All ACC performers, and they have Slovis coming in at QB.

I know some think Slovis isn't that good, but he isn't bad, and he stabilizes their QB situation since Pickett is leaving. Their WR group is best in ACC.
And we still beat them! Stop acting so scary!

We need to beat TAMU. We'll get some street cred and confidence heading into the showdown at Clemson. If we were to win both of those games, we'd wind up in the top 5 granted we don't stumble against the ACC teams we're favored against.

Our offense can match or beat any team on our schedule. We need the defense to play much better in all categories especially points per game and rushing yards allowed. If we get our offensive line to run block better (I expect Mirabal will), then the offense will be unstoppable.

2022 could be a season like Michigan's 2021 season. Unranked to CFP. Slayed the dragon in their nemesis Ohio State and made the CFP.

We just need to win the games we're supposed to win and then ball out against TAMU and Clemson. I'm more concerned about TAMU in 2023 than I am next year as their monster 2022 recruiting class will be pups next year and dogs in 2023.

The path to the 2022 CFP is doable.
Unless we get new information, play the 22 Miami-TAMU matchup x10 and Aggies probably win 8 by 20+.

HC Super Mario needs our patience and time to put a truly competitive product on the field.

I will go on record and scream from the mountain tops to tell this fan base we will never get to that level again of those two teams on display last night. A #3 or #4 seed playoff berth in my lifetime? Sure. But to be as physically gifted as both of those teams were with unlimited resources and the governing organization turning a blind eye to EVERYTHING they do will never happen in any one’s lifetime on this board. The playing field isn’t equal and we should be ecstatic for just getting to respectful level again. Mario can surely do that. Let’s get some acc ships and take it from there.
I agree, but perhaps not for obvious reason.

I believe NIL will get rolling at several programs across the country, so by default, Bama won't b3 able to amass the 5* roster density they have achieved in years past. The elite talent pool is going to get spread across a few more teams than what we have seen recently.

I don't see why we couldn't compete with them in 2022. They beat Alabama, but they are not Alabama. They went 8-4. Their QB situation is undecided. We will have the advantage at QB. I'm more worried about them in 2023 when their monster 2022 class will be sophomores.

They beat Bama with a backup QB. I bet whatever Haynes King 1A will be the guy with a short leash. Wiegaman as 1B

It's just 2 games that are both winnable. It's the easiest path to thr CFP. All the other games should be a lock if we're for real.

We beat a very good Pitt team at their place with Manny's bad defense against a 1st round NFL QB. Nothing TAMU or Clemson has on offense scares me. Our offense should be great. The defense needs to improve for us to go from good to great.
Last season was the easiest path to CFP there ever could be. We fvcked it up. We’ve fvcked it up consistently for so long, that it’s safe to assume we’re going to do it again, until we don’t.

I agree that last year was our path.. The team was just not coaches well. Undiciplined. Didn't tackle well and didn’t practice tackling

2022 is a new season and a chance to reboot.
We are under new management and a change in infrastructure of the program.

With TVD expected to have a big year, I'm expecting a 7-1 ACC record. A let down may happen, but 7-1 is my expectation based on our roster and what we'll face.
