ESPN 97.5 in Houston: Herman is #1 on Miami list

As long as Houston is in the AAC, they're not paying Herman, or anyone $4 million.
Not only can UM pay more, but he'll never play for a NC at Houston in the AAC. If this guy's the savage everyone thinks he is then he wants to compete for the big prize.

Having said all that, I'm sure Herman's agent is putting these stories out there to either increase his bargaining power with the open jobs or to get him a big raise. No one in their right mind thinks the slow-motion reactors at UM already have their guy.

Houston fans are hanging their hats on the hope that Houston will be invited to a P5 conference soon.
They can hang their hats on that, but there's been no movement to add teams to P5 conferences lately. I'm not sure the P5 teams are in a hurry to split their profits with another program that doesn't bring much to the table.

Would be a much needed homerun hire.

We've just experience a decade log dark age of Miami football, we have to get an A+ coach to save the program. This guy throws on our ESPN documentary for recruits and he's a huge fan of our rise to prominence, maybe he wants a piece?

Houston boards are adamant that he ain't leaving for miami

I think we've learned from our own boards that most boards don't know sht during these coaching searches. I think they're in panic mode, because that dude is leaving sooner or later.

He's gone after this season unless they absolutely collapse. He's got that aggressive attitude I want to see here.

I think we're being used for an extension . Hope I'm wrong , just a gut feeling

He is just looking for a Golden contract extension. Doesn't he use a running QB? We have any of those?

If you see how he used JT Barrett, he was more of a distributor with some running. He ran the **** out of Cardell Jones because Cardell is an awful QB. He is just big, fast, and has a powerful arm.

If nothing more, this shows that he uses his players attributes to their advantage.

So you are saying he is going to leave Kaaya in the pocket and build passing attack around him? Or maybe put him under center for better running game and play action? Or just sit our 1st Miami QB and go with Chocolate, who is probably perfect for him? I love my CC boy but not DNA changes. I can see the guy coming here and making huge splash with Chocolate at QB. Maybe win get to ACC title game and even win. ****, nobody in the conference would have a gameplan against us for that. Big 1st year, but then what? Look at what Dennis left us after his one back thing. Look at what Urban left at UF. (without the massive scandal Foote's administration got us into.) How many years to rebuild our speed after the fattening Al has done?

Look, we might be dead. Our administration has abused and used the program for years. The neglect might be too much to recover from. But lets go down with our best shot at return to glory -- Butch and Hurricane football. It is our only choice. We cannot compete level with those state schools. We have to do it the way Howard taught us.

his agent isn't stupid--float the rumor and all of a sudden a nice contract extension falls in your lap.

I think you are overthinking it. My post was to suggest that he tailors his offense around his players' strengths. Kayaa is reason enough for coaches to want to come to the U, the kid is the goods. You don't replace someone of Kayaa's caliber because he doesn't fit your "system". You do the opposite of Golden and tailor your system around your guys.

I think he would use Kayaa as he did JT Barret with even less running. To date, Herman really hasn't had a pure QB prospect and look at what he has done. Imagine the type of flexibility that he would have with using Kayaa to just destroy defenses.

Kayaa's greatest strength, is his accuracy.

I'd be OK with Herman, and if it is Herman, I'd try to arrange to keep Coley at OC to keep the recruiting class together. Herman is an offensive mind, and will have ultimate say in the offense, and he can ****can Coley in his second year if the results are not too his liking.

If he's anything like Meyer, he'll adapt his offense like Meyer did for Leak until he finds his guy. Meyer did win a championship with Leak.

If I remember, Ron Zook, a weak imitation of Butch for recruiting, left Urban on heck of a team. He did make Leak run more than he was comfortable with. Urban did good job with Alex Smith too, but Smith ran quite a bit. The only Miami QB I can think of that Urban could have use well would be Vinny. The rest of our NC QBs would have been killed before end of first season. But we are not talking about Urban here. This is some dude that coached under him a little. We have our own great HC, Jimmy Johnson and a guy who coached under him and standing alone in the very place we are looking for a new coach. Why complicate what is simple and easy. Let's see if Butch can do it AGAIN instead of some stranger doing it the first time.

Leak rarely ran, mostly on a scramble. Gator fans were ****ed he wouldn't run more. He was very uncomfortable with running.

Urban showed his greatness by building his offense around a pocket passer.

Cardale isn't a fast guy either , pretty much took the zone read out when Cardale started , and gutted Alabama with a power run game and Jonea arm

I think we're being used for an extension . Hope I'm wrong , just a gut feeling

He's at Houston. He doesn't need to use an offer from a p5 school for an extension.

Why not? He's constantly saying how he wants to stay at Houston and build them into a power. Mentions how much talent is In Houston and he wants to keep the kids home. Not saying that's not bs but it could be true.

He could also have leaked it to get other schools to come , use us as a bargaining chip. Stranger things have happened

If you believe the Herald than we are willing to triple his salary. I really doubt Houston would get close to that since it would be double any other G5 HC. If this is leverage it is aimed at USCe and USCw.

this guys only been a HC for 7 games?

sketchy

Sumlin
Todd Bowles
Chip Kelly

Three names randomly off the top of my head which were coordinators and were promoted to head coaches, or head coaches for a very short amount of time at smaller places before getting a head coaching gig at a big institution.

When you are a good coach, you win. No matter the level, you win. These guys are winners. That should have been the biggest red flag from hiring golden. He didn't win enough.
