Ereck Flowers

The only thing more upsetting than seeing Flowers flounder is seeing Eli Apple get beat like a drum and realizing the waste of first round picks recently.

Flowers was put in a terrible position. He should have started out at RT and then, if he improved his fundamentals, shifted over to the left side. Washington picked Brandon Scherff before Flowers but still played him at guard, which accentuated his strengths and hid his weaknesses.

The worst thing the Giants could've done is put Flowers at a high-pressure position in a high-pressure market before he was ready. Flowers is clearly a major talent at 22 and has plenty of good film to go along with his awful film.

This is very important. He has had stretches where he looks like a potential All-Pro LT. But man, when he starts reaching and can't get his feet under him, he's a mess. A move to the right side or even into guard and teams would be begging to put him over to LT. Instead, he's all over the place.

Giants ****ed around with Justin Pugh in Y1, putting him at RT and he was ok, despite everyone knowing he'd be a stud guard. Moved him to guard after drafting Flowers and he's a low key stud now. Go figure.

He is absolutely awful. Giants have to move him to right tackle and go from there.

He left a year too early and the Giants reached for him at 10. Most scouts had him as a late first round pick. Now everyone is going to jump in and yell how he had to leave to get that money but they are ignoring where the big money is for NFL LTs. It's not the first contract, even for a top 10 pick. It's the second contract and Flowers might have cost himself tens of millions of dollars by leaving a year too early. No team is going to give him Jason Peters or Lane Johnson money on that second contract. Had he stayed he still would have been a first round pick, but would have been a year older (strength wise and maturity wise) when the time for that second contract comes.

How is it I get banned for making jokes but this nole comes on here bashing canes and gets left alone?

Told ya so.

Watching Ereck Flowers in college vs. Taylor Decker, for example, is like night and day in terms of pass set fundamentals. And nothing has changed in the NFL in either case.

That's what happens when Decker started training w LeCharles Bentley at his increasingly famous OL Academy in AZ immediately after going pro and Flowers did whatever he did. Decker had the OSU connection w Bentley as his in. I know Bentley is extremely selective about who he works with, you can read the ESPN article on his academy. I know he trains Giants C Weston Richburg, so maybe Flowers could join, but it depends if Bentley would take him. Doesn't currently train any Canes that I know of.

Some of his other clients include Jets OG Craig Watts, Bengals OG Christian WestermanVikings LG Alex Boone, Titans G Chance Warmack, Lions G Larry Warford, Rams LT Greg Robinson, Bears RG Kyle Long-RT Bobby Massie, now former OSU C Pat Eiflen, former Michigan C Kyle Kalis, Cardinals RT D.J. Humphries, Jaguars G Patrick Omameh, and a few others. Most have improved under him.

Imo he needs one more year at LT. He did a ton of good things this season that he wasn't doing as a rookie. He definitely struggled like all young OL do transitioning to the NFL, but you can't give up on a top-10 pick after 2 seasons. Still has insane potential. His strength is incredible, led his class in bench reps at the combine and one of his DL teammates stated he is THE strongest OL he has faced in his career. If he figures it out, he could be a Pro Bowler for a long time. If you already know he will almost certainly be much better at RT or G, why give up on him early at a premier position as a high pick? Logically that makes no sense. Players usually make another big jump from year 2, to year 3 so they should stay the course until at least mid-season next year and see how he improves. You can always move him later, but you're not gonna move him back.

Some coach is gonna hire him to coach OL and that coach will be rewarded very handsomely.

Flowers is not quick enough to play Left Tackle. I've been saying it for years now. He's just can't deal with speed rushers.

Guard isn't an option due to his height, so the only position left is Right Tackle. I think he can be really good there if he gets his technique down.
