Good question depending on what one defines as "bigger".
Many recently retired NFL and CFL players have taken their first step in the college coaching profession at an HBCU. Going back to Larry Little and Ken Riley at BCC and FAMU, respectively. It is a good starting point because you are hired to do many things including coaching, recruiting, football operations instead of simply being hired to be the cool black coach on staff hired to recruit speedy black kids for the school in the middle of a cow pasture.
