Early thoughts on Gattis?

Where do you stand?

  • I'm satisfied with his scheme and play-calling and approve of his job performance.

  • Sample size is too small, I'll reserve judgement until we play some quality opponents.

  • I wish we had hired someone else.

Not excited so far but too early to really know for sure. Didn't really love the hire honestly but didn't want to be a ****. If he replicates what he learned at Bama I'd be pumped, bit it's looking like Michigan is more his style and that's a horrible offense to run in S. Florida.

So you don't think we can run the ball against a &m. I do. That's what we been practicing for the last 2 games. Is running the ball. I think they will be prepared. I really don't think we have seen the total offense or defense scheme yet.

I dont think our OL will get be able to get the push we've been getting. well see though. the talent difference between who we played and atm is pretty drastic.
 
Yall are a bunch of overracters. TVD told the reporters today the plan was to be vanilla the 1ST 2 games. Don't show much. . So what does our fanbase do? Turns in the OC 2 games in.. I gotta realize alot of Miami fans are rich spoon fed kids that are entitled

lol we've heard that every single time we got a new OC lol then every time it ended up being the offense. I do think in some games you can just keep it simple and out talent your way. if you know you've been struggling in the pass game and against a step up from last week talent wise you struggled (QB was bad), you think youre ready to bust it out for a huge step up in talent next week on the road? remember cribby told us about the growing pains offensively.

That **** is wack honestly but whatever.. Glad we will be done with "saving the playbook" crap for another year.. I dont see top notch offenses having to "save the playbook".. That **** is low key snitching on yourself..

More concerned about the edge rushers than dbs. Ivey is Ivey he’s always going to get beat. Other guys are in position to make plays and some just didn’t do it on that specific play
 
The problem with the scheme is you need a cerebral QB, a high caliber OL and WRs who get separation to run it. It's essentially a NFL offense, it can look really good if you execute but if your guys are getting no push up front and the WRs are getting clamped it can make things extremely difficult for the QB. I prefer a Uptempo spread offense when your either in 10 or 11 personnel most of the game, it makes things easier on everyone. Our new offense has a higher ceiling but it's going to take some time to get the guys we need to run it.

It's still a bit early. One thing I'm waiting on in his 'tailoring' of the Offense to the talent he has.

Gattis specifically mentioned that he's not married to the run or pass but wants to put his players in the best position to succeed. Last year, TVD blew up with RPOs and quick reads. Today, I saw slow developing passing schemes and, honestly, TVD seemed a bit slow.
