Duke Johnson To The NFL

Go get paid Duke and say good-bye to the dumpster fire known as Shalala, James, and Golden.

Started telling teammates and CornBreath today.

For his part, Kaaya doesn't seem to think he'll have Johnson to hand the ball to next season.

"Duke is a last-year guy," Kaaya said.

A roadblock might be Johnson's desire to spend another season with quarterback Brad Kaaya, who has had a recordsetting freshman year for Miami.

"The kid's coming along well," Johnson said. "I'm anxious to see what he'll do."

Another potential roadblock is that Johnson's mother has made it clear, many times, that she wants her son to get his degree from Miami regardless of his NFL plans. Leaving early would not preclude Johnson from satisfying that request; for the last several years, Miami has offered programs where athletes who leave early to pursue pro careers are welcomed back to the university to complete their undergraduate degree.

But the degree is Cassandra Prophet-Mitchell's top wish.

"That's the deal breaker," said Johnson, adding that his mother will get a "60-40" majority of their final vote when it's time to decide what happens next season.

Johnson said Monday that he and his mother have not made any decisions about his status for the 2015 NFL draft, though many around — and even within — the program are expecting that the running back will skip his senior season with the Hurricanes and turn pro.

Yet Johnson admits, "I don't think there's much more I need to prove on the field, if anything," Johnson said. "Not saying there's not any room to get better. There's always room to get better in aspects of the game. But as far as, I guess, stats and things of that sort, there's not much more I need to prove."

I'm no professional lip reader, but there was a shot at the end of the UVA game where it looked like Duke was saying something to Yearby along the lines of "I'm gone. You gotta take care of business now"...

I wonder if a new coaching hire would make him change his mind. I feel like the kid definitely wants that championship

***** Duke.......punk zzz was on the sideline during the last drive against fsu. Fumbling Fool.

I hope he leaves......

I really hope he leaves, even if the Canes were great again I would prob say for him to go pro. He needs to get his money.

Lol didn't they tell us we would have been 11-1 last year if Duke didn't get injured. **** gaggers with no shame

The saddest part of this is we're all lying when we say "He has nothing left to prove". The kid doesn't have a signature game here that any of us will talk about years from now when we talk about the all-time great backs. And you know what? That's not on him in the freakin' slightest. We need to start saying "There's nothing left he CAN prove....under the current circumstances."

I used to think there was a larger than generally assumed chance of him coming back based on certain variables like draft grade, his mom, etc. Now I pray that he doesn't. It's not like this clown show would even take care of a sufficient insurance policy for the kid. Be gone, Duke. You can finish that last semester and a half or whatever whenever on the Chad Wilson Reenrollment Program.

Not one signature game. He was on the sideline during the last drive against fsu. Other than that, he fumbles in crucial moments.

Bye Duke......Will not miss you.

I'm very happy for the young man, he's arguably my favorite Cane of all time. He has exuded class during this whole mess and deserves to go to the league and start taking care of his family.

He needs to stay. He fumbles to dam much

Negged. He gains nothing by coming back. Nothing. A lot of his fumbles this year have been because he's fighting for every inch to help this team. An NFL team will get that cleared up.

I think that is what he and everyone else is saying without saying it

It doesn't matter why you fumble, only that you do. As for the NFL cleaning that up, that is not guaranteed. Tiki Barber had a very good career, but it took him 7 or 8 years to solve his fumbling problem. One of UM's best backs ever was Chuck Foreman. Chuck never solved his fumbling problem. Having said that, I don't think Duke's problem is nearly as bad as those two guys.

Duke Johnson has been the only reason this team is even watchable.... unlike the other great running backs to play at UM, he didnt have a loaded group of elite NFL talent around him to make his cfb career easier.

When they asked him why he's leaving this year he said, "Because I couldn't leave last year."

There was never a chance he was staying another second longer than he had to.
