Duke Johnson To The NFL

With Duke gone next year, our RB's look horrible.

(See the Stacy Coley thread)

We have 3 elite running backs coming in next year. Johnson was always on a 3-year time table regardless of how the team was playing. He's absolutely ready for the next level. He's very good in pass pro and he's a serious threat to catch the ball out of the backfield.

He needs to stay. He fumbles to dam much

Negged. He gains nothing by coming back. Nothing. A lot of his fumbles this year have been because he's fighting for every inch to help this team. An NFL team will get that cleared up.

It doesn't matter why you fumble, only that you do. As for the NFL cleaning that up, that is not guaranteed. Tiki Barber had a very good career, but it took him 7 or 8 years to solve his fumbling problem. One of UM's best backs ever was Chuck Foreman. Chuck never solved his fumbling problem. Having said that, I don't think Duke's problem is nearly as bad as those two guys.

Exactly

The kid gains nothing by staying, he adds more mileage to his legs and delays getting to that 2nd contract by a year. Kid has been the heart and sole of this offense, it's time for him to take his skills to the pros.

Don't give a *** about a neg. Johnson has plenty of things to work like ball security. Johnsons fumbles come from poor ball positioning. every running back runs thru traffic and fight for yards for the most part. I agree with you about the physicality part but I feel like he won't last that long in the league anyways due to his concussion issues. lack of top end elite speed ....Might as well stay and have a dog *** col. Career.

yes. this group of staff has proven to be better teachers of the game than NFL coaches. Duke will learn SO MUCH staying and learning from Temple ball.

Except the opportunity to improve upon his legacy and try one last time to bring Miami back, play more football with his close friends, earn his degree, get stronger/faster/better and improve his draft stock, be a college kid for one more year, etc.

The reason why Duke should go to the NFL is obvious -- get money now in case he gets injured. Just don't pretend like there aren't plenty of reasons why Duke should stay. For all we know, those reasons may mean a lot more to Duke than jumping ship to get paid.

Duke is a good kid who truly bleeds orange and green. It's not unfathomable that he would want to give it one last chance, especially if Miami takes out an insurance policy on those million dollar legs.

Edit: I'm not saying he should stay or he should go. I'd love if he stays and I'd be happy for him if he goes. Just playing devil's advocate.

What Phucking legacy? Having big games against Crappy Teams? He got yards....big deal!

Where is the signature game?

This weak 2015 class is going to completely fall apart if Folden is retained.

Would a change in coach like a Butch Davis change his mind in staying.

Without a doubt it would give him something to think about. However, Butch would tell him to go get paid unless there are obvious areas in his game that need improvement.

Duke has 2 fumbles now he has a fumbling problem. Both fumbles came from back pursuit where somebody came from behind and knocked it out.

The uva fumble was in the 1st quarter and the next drive he broke the big run to set up the play action td to dorsett.

The Nebraska fumble was crucial.

It doesn't matter how fumbles happen. You sound like Folden. Always looking for an excuse angle.

Duke is very talented. He is not in Edge, Alonzo, Melvin, OJ, Frank, Clinton and Willis' class. He did well......without any Signature games.

I am glad he is leaving.

Uhh... that's my point. If he stays another year, then he has the opportunity to build his legacy (have a signature game, lead us to an ACC championship, finally beat FSU, etc.).

I don't really know how to respnd to this.

If My Man, Coach Don Soldinger, was UM's RB Coach, Duke's Soft *** would have been on the field during the last drive against FSU. There is no way "I gotta cramp, Coach" flies with Soldinger. Duke would have needed to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

That was his moment and he choked. The Staff and their "Soft Culture" Choked.

Maybe, maybe not. Kids commit for a lot of different reasons.

No need to........................IT'S THE TRUTH.

Butch would tell him whatever is best for Butch just like he did with Ed Reed and McKinnie.

That's funny.................being that he left before their final year.

He told Edge to Leave........................AFTER A SIGNATURE GAME.
