Duke Johnson blown up

Amazing college running back. So much fun to watch at Miami. Probably won't be a great NFL back. Likely situational at best. He had problems with head injuries a few games at Miami. This is not a good sign for his future.

how was he amazing?

vs trash can acc teams?

vt was depleted when he faced them

vs avg to good defenses he was nothing more than an avgerage running back.

if duke was so great, why can't you tell me what kind of game he looked great in vs a great defense?

Joe Yearby will and is a better RB. easily.

I love the "he didn't do anything against good teams" logic.

Good teams kick our a$$ upfront, you dummies.

Are you guys serious?

If this wasn't expected by the majority, what have you been watching the last 3 years?

"Oh but he's in the record books"

Blah blah blah

Look, I love Duke. But please tell me what formidable opponent he had great games against in college.

Couldn't break free vs uf.

Fsu was cryptonite.

He had average games versus GT and VT with an exception.

South Carolina?

Nope.

Looked like a world beater vs Boston college, and all the softies that we played. Often injured and fumbling on clutch drives.

He has 1st round measurables, 1st round stats, and a top ten attitude, yet he was a third round pick by Cleveland. They must have saw the same things I saw. I am not taking anything away from Duke, he earned everything he has. But at the same time, it is what it is.

Come on, dude.

Those Florida defenses were incredible. If you can't admit that, you're being disingenuous. Other than than giving up 33 to Louisville, an offense with 1st rounders, those Florida defenses never gave up more than 26 points to #10 Orange Bowl winning FSU in 2012 and leading into to 2013 when they were healthy.

FSU 2013=Duke had 113 total yards with 97 rushing before getting hurt and he had a 60 yard run called off on a bad call. FSU 2014=Duke had 167 total yards with 130 yards rushing.

GT 2012=200 total yards. GT 2013=325 total yards. GT 2014=152 total yards.

VT 2012=227 total yards. VT 2014=286 yards.

South Carolina=183 total yards.

How is this average?

To say you love him and say you aren't taking anything away from him, all you just did was tear him down. Often injured? He never missed a game until he brooke his ankle and he never missed a game once healed. His three fumbles this year all came when we were losing and the Virginia fumble the game was out of reach.

He's not Edgerrin James where he beat UCLA by himself, but to say that he's overrated and to use an example of him getting lit up hardly proves that point.

Is this coming from your same school of logic of players getting praise in the NFL is invalid because it's in practice but players getting praise in practice in college is totally infallible?

2012 VT and Virginia he had over 100 yards rushing. How's that?

Yearby is a better RB already despite not having done anything more impressive and it's easily said? Interesting analysis there, Don Shula. Maybe you just can't scapegoat him yet so he's in your foolish good graces.

You keep putting these yardage numbers like they're supposed to mean something to me or anyone

Anyone who has watched the games knows Duke was completely avg vs good defense

You have to keep in mind we have had great offense lines in DUkes time here, and DUke was the focal point of our offense so of course he will get numbers.

ANd lol @ ignoring his fumble led to a TD when we were down 3 driving vs Nebraska....yea just forget to mention that one.

Get that weak argument out of my face. "His yards don't matter and my evidence is because I watched him be average, by my account, against good defenses. I have no numbers to back that up since they don't fit my narrative."

I showed that he had successful numbers against good defenses and you just sweepingly said they don't count based on your trash eye test.

Those O-Lines were great and the whole staff couldn't win with them. Clinton Portis and Willis McGahee had great O-Lines. Don't see you mentioning that as a reason to diminish them. Edgerrin James carried the ball against UCLA 40 times. Should that diminish his yards because he was the focal point of the offense? Nope but you're too much of a liar to admit that.

What I find really funny is that you nitpick the fumble against Nebraska. Did Duke give 34 points? Maybe the defense should've played well. And that fumble came at the end of the third quarter and made it a two score game, not drastically out of reach. Once again, your blatant blurring of the facts. So I did mention, explained it, and you'll slither away again.

Cause Duke had so much running room against good teams, right? We weren't getting our assess kicked upfront at all. Nah.

Good RB's avoid multiple tackles in the backfield and blow through Linebackers on a routine basis.

You're officially the Paul Williams of CIS.

He is cursed. He had to play for Al Golden and then the browns. All he needs now if for Bernie Madoff to be his investment adviser.

Aguante can not be reasoned with. He uses the Al Golden logic of arguments, "it's only true if it fits my narrative". Just like Golden with his yards don't matter one year and follows it up talking about where we were ranked in yards.

For all the Duke haters how many games do we win without him? 3?

who knows but we certainly lost games because of his fumbles.

Right, because giving up 400 rushing yards and 30 points on defense and playing a true freshman qb who our coaches had no confidence in had nothing to do with it.

the game was in reach..down 3 with driving at midfield but duke fumbles for a TD....killed everything right there.

So let me see if I follow your backwards logic here.

A fumble that Nebraska scored on with 18 minutes left in the game when we were already down 3 lost the game because the team was unable to rally together and recover with a full quarter and change to play? Okay, Alfred.

If you're going to try validate your baseless opinion, at least try and make it somewhat coherent.
