DT Jarquez Carter commits to Miami

Love this kid in this defense. They're looking for quickness and explosion at that spot in this defense. Add violence and his hand usage at 18 y/o and this kid is good.

There are few DT's in the portal I'd take over this kid, the Wake Forest kid and not many others. Add to it him being a multi-year guy and this is best case scenario for me.
STG punching the air right now reading this.

this is a great addition for the DT rotation next season. If Artavius Jone, sticks around I will be paying very close attention to how D Lew develops him, he has the tools to be dominate.

DT Depth could be impressive in 2026
RSR Ahmad Moten 6-3 305
JR Justin Scott 6-4 310
JR Armondo Blount 6-4 285
SO Jarquez Carter 6-1 290
RSO Artavius Jones 6-3 310
FR Keshawn Stancil 6-3 285 or RFR Mykah Newton 6-3 285

Got you. So outside of the top 3 you have a combined 1 tackle and 50 career snaps from 1 guy. You're right.

Top 3 is very good. Beyond, it's all unknown with no experience.
Can you name 1 team in history of college football that went into a season with 4 highly productive defensive tackles on their roster?

He got thick neck you want at DT. Pause.

great get was a priority before and fills in as a more explosive simpson.

Im guessing if Jones stays he will be along the lines of a spaceater for us. This spring is important for getting him healthy and possible to eat a few snaps a game.
I like the Carter pickup because he'll do great crossing faces. I do think we need a bigger dude for the occasional game we need a 1T in a more traditional role. Who've we got? Newton? Jones? True Frosh?

We're likely good with:

Moten/Carter
Scott/Blount

I'm taking D$'s prediction for Blount to permanently move inside.

Praying we making a splash with Damon Wilson.

Good prospect and pick up.

A little small for what Matt Patricia wants, and he signed pre-MP.

Give him time and reps, and this could be really good for the Canes
You are correct. Carter is a bit small for what Matt Patricia wants but he is perfect for what Corey Hetherman wants.

Patricia severely dislikes defensive tackles who can shoot through gaps and attack vertically.

He also dislikes speed, tackling ability, any sort of athletic ability, press man coverage, rushing more than three on 3rd and 4...

oh and people questioning his alleged greatness that he never possessed.

**** this fat bearded overrated sack of ****.

Not saying much, we have nobody beyond our top 3.

1 tackle in 7 games.
He is a DT. That's a grown man position that takes time for kids to physically develop, more than just big muscles. You need grown man strength.
