DT Jarquez Carter commits to Miami

Again, missing the point. Brewu is proven. He would have given us 4 proven DTs next year.

With Carter it's all hope right now. That is also a fact.
He’s proven to be very mid at best. That won’t really help us.

It’s 2026 - not 1996. It’s the way of the world in today’s NIL/portal era. There’s no more stash and wait until proven ready except for OL.

And there’s a dude named Malachi Toney who was about as ‘unknown with no experience’ as it gets and we all see how that turned out.

This has nothing to do with this discussion. What are you talking about?

This is about Brewu being a better option in 26 versus Carter.

I know it’s been said before, but it’s worth repeating that in this transfer portal era, finishing 2nd in high school recruiting is actually important. The relationship matters more than ever before. Especially for local kids as it seems so many kids transfer BACK to hometown or home state schools.

You said Carter was an unproven unknown and I’m saying that because of his higher upside it doesn’t matter when the proven, known is mid.

This may be our d-line next year and I really like it. With Wilson…..elite
Wilson (hopeful)
Lightfoot
Lowe
Blount
Scott
Moten
Carter
Scroggins
Pickett
Russell

(Jones and Newton continue to develop)

Lmaoooo. Mid?

Highest rated FR DT in 2024 with a 75.0 grade.

Graded out at 78.5 this year with 38 tackles, 7 TFL, 1 SACK. More tackles than any of our DTs and 1 less TFL than Moten who led our DTs.

Yes, he is mid. What does that make our DTs?
Well good news champ…you get to watch him get rag dolled in south bend this upcoming year!

I love Blount, but as of now he has not proven he is better at DT than Brewu.

Point remains, Brewu would have given us a great, productive 2 deep.
I'd legit rather get Damon Wilson, JMond Tapp, and Carter over a more proven DT and maybe like Gregory at Edge.

We should have A extremely high expectations out of Moten and Scott for next yr. That will be better than probably any other team can expect.

Sure they aren't PROVEN at DT 4, but I'd say Blount is solidly proven.

Edge and specifically Bigger SDE types is where like 75% of portal funds on DLine need to go..

A guy Carter's level is the correct move imo. But we need to hit at SDE.

It’s not just production on the edge. We will NOT have two players play 90%+ snaps again next year. Complete anomaly

I'm talking purely for Depth and types of bodies on the DLine, we NEED at least 1 SDE. Period and ideally it'll be the most proven guy available.

Lightfoot, Lowe, Scroggins, Pickett ... I like. But we need some more Beef ESPECIALLY if Blount is continuing to play more DT. I'd still play Blount primarily DE on run downs and DT on pass downs ..
