DT Jarquez Carter commits to Miami

Got you. So outside of the top 3 you have a combined 1 tackle and 50 career snaps from 1 guy. You're right.

Top 3 is very good. Beyond, it's all unknown with no experience.
That's why we have to play them! Just like Lightfoot,Fitz, day, Blount, Mali, pringle....etc! we had to get them experience....same m.o!

Again, missing the point. Brewu is proven. He would have given us 4 proven DTs next year.

With Carter it's all hope right now. That is also a fact.
You ever think Brewu might want to be a starter. Hes not starting over Moten or Scott or prob even playing over Blount. Just cuz you want him here don’t mean he wants to be here to be dt 4. This ain’t the video game and you just add whoever you want.

Lmaoooo. Mid?

Highest rated FR DT in 2024 with a 75.0 grade.

Graded out at 78.5 this year with 38 tackles, 7 TFL, 1 SACK. More tackles than any of our DTs and 1 less TFL than Moten who led our DTs.

Yes, he is mid. What does that make our DTs?
ND recently hired Charlie Partridge, who recruited Brewu to Pitt. ND also has virtually no DTs. They just got one back out of the portal and then Brewu. We don’t have an unlimited budget and not everyone wants to come to UM. Carter is a good add.

If you can’t beat them, join them. I’m confident he’ll be ready for the next level that is ACC ball after going through our strength program.

Good prospect and pick up.

A little small for what Matt Patricia wants, and he signed pre-MP.

Give him time and reps, and this could be really good for the Canes
OSU fans were bummed (via their 247 board) that he hit the portal. When he committed to us tonight a couple posters (shockingly) commented on how well he will likely be developed by out staff. Wild times boys.

Love this kid in this defense. They're looking for quickness and explosion at that spot in this defense. Add violence and his hand usage at 18 y/o and this kid is good.

There are few DT's in the portal I'd take over this kid, the Wake Forest kid and not many others. Add to it him being a multi-year guy and this is best case scenario for me.

Second time's the charm. After finishing runner-up in his high school recruitment, the Miami Hurricanes secured the commitment of Jarquez Carter out of the transfer portal.

Carter, a 6-foot-2, 290-pound defensive lineman, signed with Ohio State last year as a four-star prospect out of Newberry, Florida.

During his freshman season with the Buckeyes, Carter appeared in seven games and registered one tackle. He played 51 snaps in total. He has three years of eligibility remaining. He chose the Canes over Texas A&M.

Carter joins former teammate DT Mykah Newton, who signed with the Hurricanes last year. Donta Simpson, the other defensive tackle in Miami's 2025 class, has since transferred to Missouri.

Carter was a two-sport athlete at Newberry (basketball) and brings initial quickness, strength and motor to the position.
